Came home from work on the bike today, put it in the garage and went into the house,about 25 mins later went into the garage again and I could hear a strange noise,thought it was coming from outside at first but then realised it was coming from the bike, almost sounded like a fan was cycling on and off, not the radiator though under the tank lid where the electronics are,just wondered if there is any type of fan there, there wasn't on the RR6. Not heard a bike make a noise cooling down since the tick tick of an air cooled engine.
Sounds unusual, neither of mine do that. The only thing in the area you describe that I can think of is the fuel pump, but that shouldn't be priming with the ignition off.
Shouldn't be anything making a noise when the ignition is off. Keep an eye on that as it will drain the battery.
Modern blades make all sorts of funny noises after you park them up, nothing to worry about! All to do with the pressurised fuel tank possibly, what year is it?
2016 just got it last week, you know I was going to open the tank lid,but didn't think the fuel tank was pressurised, bet your right. If it does it again I will open it up and see if that cures it
Yep, I am, but even opening the fuel tank will calm things for a while, more noises might come up later! Just ignore them..
Hi mate, I had the exact same thing and the bike went into Honda to check this out. Its a new fuel cap design that has some sort of negative and positive pump in it to regulate pressure. The pics are frow what the dealer pronted off for me. Hope that helps.
When the bikes hot it starts off like a louder wurring and then gradually slows down and starts to almost sound like a spring sound.
Well at least you werent a complete donut like me who actually freaked out about it and had the bike recovered to the dealer!! I went down at like 4am and it was still making the noise. Disconnected the battery and everything!!
I thought it was going to self combust and burn the house down! They must of had a little chuckle at the dealer for sure!
