I bought a brand new R35 rucksack about 15 months ago. It has been a great piece of kit and very comfy to wear. Is it guaranteed to be waterproof though? I ask this as after about 12 outings the last one was a wet one. I did about 150 miles and noticed that the kit inside was damp. Can it be re proofed or does it have to go back under the 10 year guarantee?
Seems strange that their smaller cheaper model is sold as waterproof and the bigger more expensive one isn't. I have contacted Kriega and they have suggested using a liner to make it waterproof. Well a £5 sportsdirect backpack and a bin liner has this effect so having forked out £149 I'm less than happy about this. Plus as far as I can see Kriega don't sell a liner.
the top zip is not water proof, Generally it keeps water out but the top zip is not water proof, tent sealer spray like fabsil works really well. I use a us10 inside to protect electronics wallets etc.
It's not about the price, the R30 is a totally different design to all the other rucksacks in that it's a drybag which rolls to a close just like their US bags. All other rucksacks are only water resistant to a degree but not waterproof. Kriega don't market them as waterproof either.
This is basically what it comes down to. If you wanted a completely waterproof bag then you bought the wrong one. Kriega sell drybags to suit the other backpacks in their range or you can get one from any decent camping store.
