Maybe where you live that would be the case but it isn't up my way. There is nothing wrong with my maths, £100 saving per pair of tyres is a minimum. Even if my time was worth say £50 p/h, I can't get to a "tyre changer", get it done and be home again in less than 2 hours. If I have to waste time travelling to and from the tyre change place and wait on them doing it then what's the point when I can get it all done and dusted in less time? If I have to take 2 loose wheels I need to have the bike balancing on stands which I'm not happy about doing. Also, it takes me much longer to remove/refit the wheels than it does to change the tyres so from every aspect it's a complete no brainer doing it myself.
hey dont blame me,i'm going off his math. i've done 10 changes this yr already, thats £25,000 already (my rate per hr is higher than his )
Ah, ok then. I've not purchased a pair of tyres from a dealer in ten years. I'm a tight fecker and have always either purchased off the net or M&P / Busters etc when the deals are on. The last 3 x pairs of tyres have been 1 set of one time used M7RR scrubs with 5mm on the rear (!), a used set of Diablo Rosso Corsa's with 600 mile on them from new that the guy took off at the first service as he was going touring Europe and a new (unused) front Dunlop Qualifier to match the new rear which the previous owner of the K5 threw in with the bike. A few years ago I also got a 600 mile Supercorsa from a guy who had bought a new MV Brutale and took the tyres off at the first service for something different.......£45! Told you I'm a tight fecker. Also my local coucil refuse site will not take any tyres other than push bike ones. Our local council says you should leave them to be disposed of by the tyre fitters!
