Hi, Is there any way to add a switch to control the exhaust servo rather than having it run off the ECU? I know there is a "Servo Healer" to stop the ECU freaking out if you disconnect the servo. What I want to know is; is there some gizmo to plug into the servo that will allow an "open/close" switch? I do love running with it open; the bike sounds so much better and also runs more smoothly; But sometimes when I get home at 4am after staying late at work (it happens) rocking up to the house in "quiet mode" and not waking up all the neighbours might stop the complaints to my land lord. I know I'm asking for cake and eating it but; I really like eating cake!
The servo wont cause any problems, if you just disconnect the actuator cables, and leave the servo plugged in. I did think about this before I put a new full system on my bike. I did come up with a rather crude way but never actually tried it. My solution was to use an old style manual choke type set-up, A simple knob fitted somewhere in the cockpit with a push/pull cable affair, to open or close said valve. I'm sure there are better ways, but that seemed cheap and effective (possibly). You get the idea?
That's actually not a bad idea. I found this brake bias adjuster which looks like it could do the job. But I was thinking more of something electronic to sit between the ECU and the Servo to intercept and change the flapper valve settings, or allow for pass-thru.
Are you lot mad?....have I missed a few posts ? Why o why would you want to bugger round trying to fix something which clearly is,nt broke ! The bloody valve don't make that much difference to sound.........only when your nailing it.......sounds like you guys are spending too much time fussing or you have shallow pockets with loads of dosh to spend
Are you kidding? The bike sounds like a strangled 300cc bike with the flapper closed. I've considered just throwing in the towel and getting Austin Exhaust but I've had all the insurance rape I can take for one year so running with the flapper open is the next best thing.
Wouldn't worry about the noise tbh Becky...I used to come home regular in the early hours & worked on the theory if the exhaust passed the mot, then tough titty on any complainers! You could always freewheel the last 100 yds maybe
Disconnected mine after next door said he couldn't believe how quiet it was. Didn't need telling twice, but a few have commented it's quiet and like you first year where I have had to insure a bike myself and MCE can't wait for my phone call and ask for my credit card.
Gotta say, if you want a loud pipe, get a loud pipe. The exhaust valve opens at about 4.5k anyway. Dunno about you guys but I don't spend much time below that and quite like the stealth side when crawling through town etc. Horses for courses I spose. I've had cans / full systems on all my previous bikes but for some reason I don't feel the need to on the blade
It's funny I had a quickshifter on my last bike and I really really loved it... but now I have the blade I don't miss it at all - It's wierd. But I'm still not a fan of the flapper lol
