I was fortunate to borrow a Scala Rider G9 (Thanks Garyb) to take on a recent holiday to Europe with a couple of mates (thefirebloke and RepsolWill). Whilst the touring was amazing it was helped by the use of inter bike communications. Although getting the Scalas connected first thing in the morning was a pain in the arse, as occasionally they would refuse to connect, sometimes wasting 15-20 minutes. Mind you, it might've helped if we'd bothered to read the instructions properly. Upon my return I have continued to use the Scala to use with my bike tom-tom and my phone for music. Wireless bluetooth music is great, no tether with the earphone cable. My son is also about to buy his first bike and so I will need to buy a two bike set. The Scala is good but I'm thinking perhaps there's better or cheaper out there. So, I'm asking what do you guys use? How easy to use are they? Cost?
Have a sena 20s which I went halves with on a pair to reduce costs further, great bit of kit and easy to use and has a phone app to control quite a few functions, quality of audio is very good and people don't realise I'm riding when chatting to them if they call me when I riding
I tried taking a call on the Scala but I couldn't hear them too well, despite faffing about with all the volume controls.
The sena has good speakers or alternatively like me I've use earbud headphones instead and the volume control is the rotary wheel on the unit and quick and easy to turn up or down
I've got the sena 20s. A group of mates all went halves in a few dual packs before our MotoGP trip last year. I excellent bit of gear. Easy to use once you get the hang of it and great sound quality. I ride with earplugs in to block out wind noise and the sena speakers come through crystal clear.
Scala's new "PackTalk" feature on their new headset is apparently quite good. My friend is trying to convince me to get one; but I'm gonna hold out until I need to buy a new helmet and buy them together. For making calls on your phone make sure that your bluetooth volume is all the way up on the phone I don't have any problems on my current scala headset.
