Does anyone know if they have forward facing cameras to record bike plates as I think I may have been snapped today at around 65 in a 50 (showing 70 but know my clocks will be out due to gearing anomalies) but I was heading towards the van when I spotted him. My own fault I know but not a lot of info out there regarding vans etc. Anyone on here CERTAIN of the answer before offering advice? Not a lot I can do anyway but may put my mind at rest.
From what I've been told it's normally the rear of the van facing you with the camera pointing out the back. The camera alerts the operator if the speed threshold is triggered, the operator is then meant to record the number plate of the motorbike rider as it goes past him. He then you on camera plus your plate to tie the two together. If the guy was lazy he might not have got your number plate. If it was just the front facing you then it sounds like he was on the wrong side of the road as they should be rear facing towards oncoming traffic. Never seen a van with cameras on the front myself My neighbor is in police traffic
Sorry Singh, I meant that the camera was pointing out the back of the van but was wondering about the likelihood of the plate being recorded from the from to the vehicle once I'd passed it. Can't influence anything now, I just need to wait 2 weeks to find out. just wondering thats all if anyone has been done on here. First time in 20 years on a bike or car so have no experience of this.
I was caught by a van on a dual carriageway, camera facing me , front, but====================I got a ticket a week or so later, so they must of had camera facing me after I went past also, last year, £100 and 3 points
U maybe lucky. i have had three near missus but heard nowt once in car and twice in wagon I am going to stop next time I see one on bike as its invasion of your privacy see how mr camera man likes it when I stick it up him will post on here
TBH if I can get away with 3 points and a ton I'd be relieved, getting off with it would be dream time.
I don't speed on the road so have no experience in such matters! On Track though...............................
Depending on how fast you was recorded doing you might get to do a speed awareness course instead of taking the points, if you do get a penalty notice, when you get it, if it doesn't say anything on the letter about the speed awareness course, call them and ask them for it.
I'm attended one earlier this yr.... I'm pretty sure you wont get a option as its only a very small percentage of difference
It's allways worth a try, remember, if you don't ask you don't get! And there's always the chance someone will cock up and offer it even when your not entitled to it
Personally I think you would have more chance at winning both the Euro and Lotto... in the same week ! but if you live in a remote village where the local bobby still blows his whistle you never know....??
There was a few people on a course I did claiming they did some high speed and got on the course, chances are they were full of sh** but who knows, there's always room for error with the old bill,
Could you have stopped in time, remove the numberplate or tied a carrier bag over it until you passed him
