Well, I'm absolutely gob smacked. I've just rung Aviva insurance to get a quote to insure my 2012 Fireblade. I couldn't believe it when he said he first needed to check that it was a bike they'd cover. It turns out my bike is a group 17 and they don't cover anything group 16-17.
I'm not that fussed because my renewal quote with MCE is £98 Fully comp. But since I have my building and contents cover with Aviva I thought I'd give them a try and get 20% off.
Back in the 80's Norwich Union was the only company that would insure me as a 20 year old on an 1100. How times have changed.

Appetite for risk varies depending on what companies are exposed to. They are probably getting more profitable business for less risk elsewhere. Who knows what they will or won't insure in the future.

I didn't even get as far as asking my occupation.
Although with MCE this time I decided to say I was retired (I'm not sure if this is true or not, suffice to say it is at the moment). The premium went up by £12. Still it's not bad £111.03 including IPT, protected NCB and everybody's commission.

After touring on holiday with you Kev I would say you're definitely a low risk.......especially at the speed you ride! ;);):p:p

What it is Kev is they've been burnt big time recently by 50 something single males buying 'so called' Pussey Magnets like Audi A5 Coupes and cruising the local Teenage Hangouts late at night when the light is more favourable to these expert groomers! :D

To start with, I wondered what the hell are you on about. Then the penny dropped.
