I've just read an article about an eighteen year old lad who was seen with his fingers on the screen of his phone which he was using as a satnav.
He was fined £75, £15 offenders levy and three points.
Food for thought for all of us that use phone for navigating or even dedicated satnavs (maybe).

Yes, my cars got touch screen everything, and it's as slow as buggery. Luckily on a small island I don't need the satnav:p

Unfortunately for the lad touching the phone even in satnav mode is still illegal whilst moving!

To be honest even trying to program just a normal satnav whilst moving would probably attract points as your attention is taken off the road and could have been programmed before the journey started

Reading between the lines I wouldn't touch a satnav whilst driving/riding, any excuse and they'll do you these days

    From gov.uk website
    Using hands-free devices when driving
You can use hands-free phones, sat navs and 2-way radios when you’re driving or riding. But if the police think you’re distracted and not in control of your vehicle you could still get stopped and penalised.

The operative word there is "hands-free".

Indeed... Was the phone fixed in place? Or was he simply holding the phone and trying to manipulate it...

I've had a gutsful of people swerving in front of me while they're texting, dialling, playing games or whatever the hell they're doing... So hard for me to be sympathetic to anyone distracted by their phone, no matter what they're doing with it.
    Sorry... A bit distracted there...

TBH I'd say he was pretty unlucky to get caught based on the sheer number of idiots I see on the roads using their phones.
