is it just me or have we had a lot of people join of late who in their first post are selling items??

No intro's and any intent of giving to the forum before wanting something back from it!

Yeh having not been a member here for too long Steve I totally agree with your comments, I now consider myself a dedicated Menace:D but I do feel I bring some knowledge to the table ...Might not make too much sense but I understand it ...something must have changed as i remember when I joined you had to have a certain amount of thread counts before advertising:rolleyes:

Perhaps have it like the TDR forum, you have to contribute a certain amount of posts which then allows you access to the "For Sale section.

Not sure how many posts ive made but I have also advertised to sell stuff but I have also bought stuff to.

Not a clue of software capabilities but sites like these are an invaluable source of info which enables me to do loads of stuff on my bike which previously I would of had to pay someone

Some people would advertise in other sections not just the for sale thread !!!!!!

I seem to remember when you joined, small print about these things came up to read ( but I could be wrong )

I suppose to be fair, some folks don't read it ( or the sticky) & then post for sale stuff without realising....and then of course there's them that do & take the p#ss.

Maybe it needs to be in VERY BIG LETTERS with some saucy ladies dancing around it........being as it's blokes who are always the miscreants :D

If somebody has something for sale at a price that you want to pay are really bothered about how many posts they've got?

Buying from a forum can be dodgy, after all you know nothing about the other person. The 20 post minimum was good because as well as stopping the spammers it also gave you a chance to find out more about someone before you handed over your beer tokens.

Would you buy bits for your bike from someone who walked up to you in a pub and offered you a load if parts?

Perhaps with my background I'm a little more wary than most about buying from someone with no history on the forum! As I am when buying on eBay I look at their feedback history and research and have missed out/passed up on stuff that was a supposed good price

But feel free to get stung by someone you don't know

How can you disagree with a question?

I mean rules is rules and us bikers would never disregard rules would we?

Problem is when the moderators started to inflict the 20 post rule and started deleting the posts etc, members started kicking off if it was something they actually wanted and we ruined their chances of getting it.

We can't have it both ways guys.

Does 20 posts really make you trust worthy? I don't think so.
We are all adults and can make a decision on if we trust someone or not and how we pay them. Personaly i wouldn't bank transfer or PayPal gift unless I really knew someone well.

I would say if you really want the item use PayPal and pay a little extra to cover the fees to make the transaction safe or ignore the post and move on.
