am I the only one who thinks that the standard suspension settings are much to hard.if you agree where have you set yours?the other thing I have done is fit a shock from a 15 blade but haven't ridden it with this fitted yet.has anyone else done this mod and did it improve the ride?

All depends on rider weight and also check your spring preload, everything needs to be set-up correctly! Get your sags sorted out and your be half way to a decent feeling. Firm is ok as long as it's compliant and not springing you out the seat! Rebound speed is equally as important as the rest of the settings. There are plenty of set-up pointers on here or YouTube.

My 2011 was hard to turn, much improved with just a few tweaks.

    Found this helpful.

gostar-racing.com, go to information & look at motorcycle suspension setup.

Enter the site, click information on the left hand side then look for motorcycle suspension setup (on the right).

I put a 13my shock in my 08 and then Alpha set up as below based on 14st

Also worth getting front fork oil changed if u have no past history, mine was like black pish when it was drained. The diff was unreal.

As long as you know how to go back to standard its worth an hr fiddling.

Frt Preload 8 3/4 from full soft, (2 3/4 turns harder)
Frt rebound 2 3/4 back from full hard (1/2 turn softer)
Frt Compression 1 1/2 back from full hard (1/2 turn harder)

Rear Preload set at 6 ( 2 harder)
Rear rebound damping 3 1/3 back from full hard (1 1/3 softer)
Rear Compression damping 2 1/2 back from full hard (1/2 softer)

    thanks mate
my problem is that it all seems much to solid so am surprised that you find even more front preload is better.
I think I shall have to have it sorted by an expert and have used MCT in Stowmarket to good effect on both my 98 and 2002.
will probably wait till new year and a bit finer weather!!
I appreciate your input just the same and will bear it in mind.
    cheers

    Preload doeant make it harder...

I can only advise u get a full set up by someone in the know, it will make a world of diff but your fork oil will make just as bigger difference.
