I commute all year Monday-Friday, albeit only 3.5 miles each way, Glen Vine to Douglas, and my 'blade never misses a beat...until this morning :-( That cold day weak battery that won't turn the engine over enough to fire up...hmmm. Luckily for me I live near a hill, so 5 bump start efforts later she burst into life and I got into work just on time. So, my question is, anyone keep their bikes on trickle charge? Any can you advise best one to buy?
How olds your battery? Maybe you need a new one rather than the trickle charge route. I use my bike similar to yours & it should be fine if you're on it most days. I remember mine getting a bit iffy a while ago...got new battery & sorted
Sometimes the obvious solution evades me! That makes sense...it's the original...so 10 years old...will get a new one instead! Thanks
not sure about the LiPO batteries, my young fella has an Oset with 3 x regular batteries in, looked into changing to LiPO but heard a few horror stories about the bursting in to flames including 1 locally here so i know it's not just an urban myth. Is this just a problem when charging them fixed to eleccy bikes?
My Gilera 200's over ten years old and still on the original battery. I used it every day for the first six years of its life but since I retired four and a half years ago it hardly moves. I took it for a quick spin last week (first time out for three months) and it started first time. Mind you it's hooked up to an Optimate all the time.
Popped into Road and Track at lunchtime, usual Isle of Man choice..."well we have this 1" Lucas gel thing purchased, wonder if it'll last another 10 years?
Is that a bit of product placement I spy on the beanie Hope you're getting a few free pints out of it
haha no free beer from Rob he's as tight as a newt's arse ! Had to ensure my December issue of Trainspotting Monthly was out of shot though
This ones two years old with no dramas, got one on the Grom too with no issues, a good well maintained battery should last a good few years in my book. I removed my blade battery in the winter, pointless being connected without not used till March/April.
