Hello all. I have bought a cbr1000rr 2011 model. It was lightly crashed by the previous owner, and has laid up for two years. The bike cranks over, although highly pitched to my ear, new fuel in and fuel pump prime's and I have good fuel pressure. I've bypassed the tilt switch also. I think the clocks are knackered as no digital display, no neutral or oil light and no sweeping needle. High beam light works and indicator light works. I've checked continuity of the wires and all is ok. I believe the bike should work without clocks, as my other Honda's do. Now and again the starter relay clicks and you lose all power like the fuse has gone, it hasn't, but if you remove the 30a fuse and put it back in it becomes live again. I am thinking it's a wiring problem, but anyone have any useful ideas as to what is wrong? Thanks in advance John
Well John.... sounds like you purchased a complete basket case! Think your find you need the clocks as there coded to your bike with the HISS system so you won't get a spark! As for the rest of God only knows!!! You only require fuel and air and a spark to make the combustion but sounds like there is an issue with your wiring etc
Yes,...But someone has to bring these things back to life. What I'm after is an answer as someone might have had a similar problem and save me time really. Clocks are definitely not coded as HM do a plug and play dash for them.
I rebuilt an 09 blade last year that had been crashed. It would not start so i checked - diode - tilt switch - all fuses The pump was priming which was confusing and the starter relay was clicking. Eventually I found that the start motor was knackered. It was getting red hot and not turning over fast enough. Replaced it an she fired up. That's when I discovered lack oil due to being on it's side resulted in a shagged crank
Ooh dear. No BAS then. I've checked the same. The starter doesn't sound right to be honest. The first thing I thought when it was spinning over. I realise the risk etc with something like this, and can rebuild them myself if need be, so not too bothered tbh. I'll whip the starter off and do some checks. Thank you
It's all part of fun and gives you hours of enjoyment and mental torture in the man cave trying to work out what is going on
Thank you for your input gents, the problem is now solved. It was an accumulation of problems that has made me and the multi meter best friends. Broken wires Green connections Stiff bearings on the starter Old fuel in the injectors Probably more. I stripped the bike down redone the loom, cleaned everything and now starts no problem.
Glad to hear she is up and running. Stick some pics up when she is done or even as you do it as we all love a build thread
