anyone know the best place to get them other than main stealer? are ebay ones ok or cheap rubbish/ cheers
Assuming you are referring to seals. Have used aftermarket from ebay without problem but do prefer OEM which do pop up for less than £40 occasionally. TBH when I take my callipers apart the seals are normally good and just need a good scrub with the mrs toothbrush. The problem is normally build up of gunk behind the seals and or corrosion of the pistons. The ball ache is removing the seals without damaging the calipers. Scrub the seal carefully with brake cleaner and lube with red grease, if not torn they will be as good as new. Just make sure you keep tabs which are 30mm and 32mm!
Hi jon, how's thing's mate? the ones in there are about a year old so was hoping they would be ok, damage the calipers? how fragile are they?
Good thanks! Need to man up a little as my pinkies are just freezing off this time of year! Checked my seals at 30 and they were still good. Changed them at 60k just because..... but they were still OK! Really easy to scratch the anodising/powercoat on the inside of the calipers when removing the seal. Scratch them up and you're asking for corrosion. I use a bamboo skewer with the end reshaped as a wedge to remove the seals, zero chance of scratching. To remove the gunk behind the seal I use a plastic brush on my dremel
haha! -10 here this morning and possibly the same in the morning so will be moaning to myself all the way lol thanks for the advice fella appreciate it
