Probably a stupid question but how do you get the rear footpeg hangers off, they look like the bolts are behind the rear sub-frame. Was thinking of a single seat cowl but don't want to fork out loads of money to sharpen up the looks of the back end if you can't get the rear pegs off easily.
I always think you should have the choice when you buy a sports bike of a single seat option, I never carry a pillion and pegs are just extra weight.
I'm sure the new 2017 s1000rr's are now coming like that as standard & if you want the pillion pegs/seat you can have them on request. Makes more sense to me as you see far more sports bikes out without pillions than with!
There is some good threads on this subject already just do a search for them. I removed mine yesterday and fitted street hooks took 45 mins start to finish. It is a bit of a pain in the arse but it was quite a bit easier than I had anticipated. If you've got a bit of know how just take your time and take care.
Yes I wish I had bought some Street Hooks first, as if I need a passenger I have to take it all apart again
Cheers, think I'll give it a go, how much were the street hooks and where did you get them from if you don't mind me asking.
I got mine from ebay £29.50 they are a polished aluminium finish. NOTE THESE ARE FOR NON ABS FIREBLADE. Here is a link. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Racing-Hooks-Honda-CBR1000RR-Fireblade/322389956252 Also a handy link for instructions on doing the job. http://trinityzxr750l1.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/fitting-sato-racing-street-hooks-to.html
It's a Cafe Racer haha Didn't take that long tbh, about an hour but I was taking my time, Went for the one side at a time approach, still had to drop the bottom plate which holds the number plate bracket, etc. To get at the bolt that holds the sub frame together. I've left it like this as I'm waiting for the racing hooks to turn up. Will post picture when finished.
As others have said, as long as you take your time it's actually pretty easy! I followed a post on here and had it done within a few hours.
Its fairly simple if you take your time. There was a thread on here a while back that a Honda dealer want to charge 6hrs labour to do this job!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
As stated, it's a real time investment to get at the pegs but it's not too difficult. I reckon it makes all the difference to the rear of my bike. I've gone stealth black with a nice undertray and they were really upsetting the colour scheme and the lines of the bike.
Nice to see someone's ass has lost a bit weight since christmas (mine hasn't). Pegs off, R&G tail tidy fitted and rear seat cowl, looks much better but I'm not 100% happy with the colour match on the cowl, bearing in mind how much they cost it should be spot on. Didn't bother fitting the racing hooks either as I never carry pillions so I have a set for sale if anyone is interested, they aren't Sato but good quality brushed aluminium, £29 posted UK mainland.
Yeah I've always done it with mine, 2x ZX6s, 2x GSXR750s, all were a doddle compared to this one though, and the seat cowls were a fraction of the price, were actually free with the Suzuki which is still one of my favourites so I'm posting a picture , definitely think Honda are having a laugh with their spares prices.
