On my engine rebuild I will be replacing the pistons with cp and carillo rods. Can any one see any problems with me going +2mm oversize? I know I will need the cylinders bored and replated but will I be leaving the gaps between the cylinders too thin?
You should be ok, if we were a hot country like Spain it might be a problem with over heating but you should be fine here. That will add some power over stock
Cp only do the standard size and +2 but wiesco do +1 +2 & +3 surely they wouldent go thru the effort to make them if they wouldent work?
HI, wiseco makes only std , +1 and +2 not +3. If you leave in mid temp country, +2 and carrillo rods should be ok. here in south of france we have hot summer so i did only std size HC piston ( Wiseco, beautiful ) with stock rods, stock rods are very strong and ok to 210 hp. Walls between cylindre are 5 mm, with +2 pistons, you will have 3mm. Depends on your country and temp.
Could of sworn I saw saw a +3 but anyway country is England and I'm aiming to keep the engine temp at 75C as iv been told this is optimum. If anyone has more info or advice it's greatly appreciated.
With the raise of compression and the thickness of the wall with +2 if you want to stay around 75 , you will have to upgrade your coolant system : silicon hoses, new radiator or additional, etc.
Yeah I'm fitting a switch to turn the fans on a lot sooner, with hrc thermostat, silicone hoses and best coolant possible I'm hoping this will be good enough off not I shall have to look at the better rad route. I'm running the hrc thermostat on my standard engine at the mo and it keeps the temp below 70 so depending on temp increase I might be ok
Below 70 isn't great for the engine mate. Engine have to be warm especially in our sport bike, to run great, to have good clearance between parts ( cylinder , rings, piston, etc, ... ) , good oil viscosity, and passages in oil route, pump, etc.
I knew I'd seen it! I think that will be pushing the cylinder walls a bit too thin! Iv been told cp are better than wiseco tho? Arthur what do you reakon on the heat problem?
no mate, read all the information .... they have 76 and 78 but they said +1 and +3 , it's an error on their website and catalog.... Cause stock pistons size on the 08/14 blade is already 76mm , so they hav +2 ( 78 ) maximum size, +3 don't exist for the 08 fire blade, it will cause wall too thin ( less than 2mm ). The 04/07 blade had 75MM piston so yes they have +3 for the old blade to achieve 78mm too. +2 mm don't achieve 1080 ( another error lol ) they achieve 1050.
CP is very great parts don't be worry, but you have to plan all the parts and measures around cause : CP are 14:1 comp versus 13.5:1 for WIseco CP have 2 rings versus 3 for Wiseco , have to think about if you plan to ride a lot of km, Wiseco will be better for long term bike.

Yes 2.00 is 1050 but IF they do a +3.00 the it would be 1080cc with a stroke of 56.5mm, but if you say it's an error then ok, I've never asked them on such a big piston. Heat, yes, I'd be careful on stock rad and hoses etc, if your upgrading the rad etc then fair do, guess you could suck it and see but I'd guess you may run into problems with standard coolant etc on track.
yes , for example i have no issues with my stock size piston wiseco + 0,6 squish and head milled by 0,12 mm ( around 13,8 comp ), i just have Samco hoses.
Sorry to reaserect an old thread but has anyone seen overbored head gaskets or could I get away with a standard bore one?
Yeah I saw I can get different thicknesses with HRC ones but I'm going +2 pistons so wondered if I can still use them or will I need an overbored gasket
