I know the PS3 supports bluray but do any of you guys know if it supports 3d bluray or do I need to go PS4?
Not sure about the PS4 but looking online at performance of stand alone bluray players trouncing the PS3,this may be the way to go.
I've just started updating my venerable gaming PC and I really wish I hadn't touched it. I gave my missus' lad my old monitor and then bought myself a 4K 28 inch Samsung jobbie. Tried to set it up and not much success. Turns out my graphics card doesn't support Freesync (one of the reasons I bought the monitor) and when I hook it up using a Displayport cable it flickers on and off (mostly off). So I've had to buy a new graphics card today. This still won't solve the problem that all of the icons and text are ridiculously small (apparently Windows 7 doesn't do a very good job of scaling up to 4K). Windows 10 apparently solves this problem so I'll probably end up having to buy that. And if I'm going to do that I may as well upgrade to a Solid State Hard Drive Makes me wonder how far down this rabbit hole I'm going to have to go.
Yep. The main reason I went down the console root. For the ...less cerebral type of gamer I'ved evolved into.
I do still love a desktop PC but yup, they are painful every 5 years or so. I'm sure there'll be some more nasty surprises to come.
Used to be that every five years or so, I'd spend a grand on a new PC, that'd do my image processing, video editing and gaming to 'current state of the art'. My last one, the fastest one I've ever owned, I built for £350. However, I've just spent £1800 on a monitor. Not £1800 of my money I must add, but my boss's.
Scaling on Windows 10 isn't great. I have a 4k monitor and a 4k laptop and the display is much better in Linux. I am thinking about changing the monitor for an ultrawide one to save my eyes. Can you not disable freesync on the monitor settings? I ask because I had to enable it on mine, or shouldn't I ask in case the wife reads this [emoji6]
I'll stick with IPS for now and will keep gaming for console. I've heard that 4K is more res than our eyes need, so not in any rush.
Well that depends on the size you have, the bigger the monitor the better 4k is and 4k gaming is awesome
No wonder nothing ever gets done around the house!!! I'm screenshoting this lot & forwarding to your respective missus's
Ahh... but what you don't realise my little glasshopper is.................. she is about to emboss you in the said silver, seal you in the kiln........ and pay me £200 a year storage fees for my 'Men Who Disappoint' attic storage facility!. Which, going on this thread...will soon be full to combust
