Thinking about 2013/14 APRC model. Who's had one/ridden one/blown one up o_O What are they like to ride (real world) ? Reliability etc

I've been looking on the relevant forums but they are either US based or hardly ever get posts...

    Thanks

    :)

don't go for the 1000cc one ,they have had lots of dropped valve and gearbox problems. From what i can see there are no major problems with the 1100cc ones though. Personally i would pay for the newer one than buy an older model with known problems that might cost you more in the long run.

Always nice to have a well informed opinion lol.
I've had a 1000cc Tuono for about 18 months now and it's been faultless.

am i bad ? lol . i posted as i fancied a 1000 cc tuono ,( the 2011 onwards model) since i first rode one a few years back .So i did the usual thing and checked on forums for reliability issues and found the previously mentioned problems. There is a forum in the u.s.a with an aprillia specialist repairer ,who highlights the recurring problems that the earlier 1000cc bikes have and letting people know (for example) the difference between the old and upgraded gear cogs in the gearbox .
I also have talked to someone that had his tuono drop a valve on his bike that was 2 weeks out of warranty . Aprillia wouldn't help in any financial way .
I had a ducati that was a year past its warranty date and took it to my dealer to repair some faults ,which they carried out free of charge due to me pointing out that they were well documented problems on ducati forums.
I use my bikes purely for recreation and do around 8000 miles per year ,so i am waiting for the newer model tuono to drop in price a bit so that i can buy one without having to worry about reliability .

I rode a demo rsv4 factory 2013 with the gold wheels, best bike by far I have ever ridden, the handling the noise with standard can was something else, it was like riding a 600cc but with 170 bhp.

We couldn't agree on a PX price on my bike at the time and they wouldn't budge on there price so that was that, I still look out for that model ebay etc.

About a year later I got offered a good price trade in on a new Tuono V4 awesome bike with 8000 miles trouble free in one year.

I rode the new Tuono 1100 v4 it was good but wasn't blown away with it and at £15,000 couldn't see it was any better than my 2014 V4 that I paid £9999 for brand new.

I say if its what you want go and get it we are a long time dead and if you don't like it sell it.

Now i agree with you on the you only live once part... If you can afford to buy the bike and have enough money available just in case of problems then go for it.

I had one for 2 years before my blade .
    Aprc factory .

    ^^^^^ a 600 with 170bhp sums it up .
Package wise it was like my 2009 r6 track bike . Felt no bigger .
    Very compact and accurate .
I got a warranty with mine and if buying another I'd want a warranty again ..
    Great bikes .

Can have issues with parts if nil stock and Italy in holiday ( august )

But I had no real issues .

Dream bike ! Never had a problem. The handling is fantastic. You should have a test ride and after that you want one...

I had a Mille for a while and used to use this forum http://www.rsvr.net/forums.html. There's an RSV4 section, some very knowledgeable guys on there.

There's also a very active UK group on Facebook called Aprilia Performance run by a top guy called Griff, who runs his own Aprilia workshop. He and the group know Aprilia inside out.

You've now got me looking at Aprilias again!

Thank you guys for all your hints and tips. Those forums are helpful, the amount of B.S in "dealers" adverts is crazy, bikes listed as ABS when clearly not, specialists not knowing about the race ecu etc
Real owners info is very helpful.
I need to see what they are like to ride and compare the competition and weigh up the pros and cons, also find a nice example.. I'm fussy. ...Of course being"exotic" there aren't a line of bikes to try in my local area ...
Thanks again and keep the replies coming

+1 for April's Performance. Guys travel 100's of miles to see Griff in Tamworth. He also knows everything about setting up suspension

I really thought that the Fireblade is the best bike on the market until I had a test ride on an Aprilia RSV4......
