So I have an invincible security chain locking my back wheel down, only problem is they can still remove my rear wheel to steal the bike. I've checked but I can't find anything to stop the rear wheel nut and wheel being removed...I guess what I'm asking for is some type of locking wheel nut like the type found on a car but for a motorbike. i have lots of other security measures in place but the only think bolting it to the ground is my rear wheel and the nut holding it all together. I have a welding machine so if anyone has some inventive ideas let me know
To be fair if they want the bike that much they will take it! Police don't don't care and will just issue a crime number, probably the best course of action is a tracker after the chain, cctv, better garage door locks etc
Can you not put your chain through the swing arm? Or use a second chain through the swing arm and wheel to stop removal? I just put mine through the wheel, if they want it bad enough to break into my shed and take the wheel off to carry it away they can have it!
Chances are pretty slim there going to remove your back wheel before stealing your bike, they tend to favour easy picks that they can wheel away or just lift up. Gilles tooling do a locking rear wheel nut that once fitted can't be removed unless you have a small allen key, but if they have come equipped with a load of tools then the will just be able to undo it if they see it. Chances are they won't see the locking thread system as it's quite well concealed.
This is extremely effective placed in a warm basket by the rear wheel.... It not only stops theft but assists in crime prevention.... as it's very difficult to ride stolen bikes away with no fingers
Got 2 british bulldogs looking after mine. Although its difficult to wake them sometimes so not sure how effective they are.
Very true. Although it was more in response to Lucky's question about securing the wheel to the bike.
Did you mean invisible? Not seen any chain yet that is invincible, and no manufacturer would be able to get away with describing one as that. Difficult, time consuming, pain in the arse it may be but any chain can be defeated. Of course if it is invincible they could simply cut the rear wheel off if you managed to make that hyper-secure.
Haha no not invincible but can withstand the best portable angle grinder for 2 minutes so pretty good, I do have crash bobbins and an extremely good security camera..I caught the last two thieves with ;-) Here they are below 20 seconds before running for there life I'm just looking to slow them down even more, incase by some miracle I sleep through my camera alerts. I'm thinking of cutting a ratchet socket in half and then spot welding it onto the nut creating a round surface, I can then just dremel it off whenever I need to, not a great solution but I can't really see a better option at the mo
Bloody hell! That'll be why the paranoia is there then! Can you not have a shed or bike pod put in? I had my shed added onto the monitored house alarm and put cameras in so if the alarm goes I can check on it before getting the bat out or calling police if im at work. Or at least build a box to go round it when parked, out of sight out of mind.
I'd prefer not to get a shed as once they are inside you can't see/hear what they are up too plus I don't really want to block out the light coming into my window. I might be tempted by a pod as there really isn't any space for them to work in or know what bike it is. What I really want is a bike port but the smokers have stereotyped these
That's why I got mine alarmed, means if anyone gets in I get a phone call from adt. You can get insurance approved pods on eBay for couple of hundred quid. Then get a motion sensory alarm inside it ance job done
