Guys, what bike should i be looking at? Honestly there is so many bikes that put me off now that i am really at a loss what to go to next. I have a 08 blade at the moment. Considering selling it, just because im afraid everything will go wrong with it (crank and / or oil burning).

So, i want a sportbike. I am not looking to buy new, because that is too expensive. I don't like the Kawasaki or Suzuki. I have had 2 yamahas before and honestly they are great bikes. Yamaha can really make motorbikes. But the biggest downside to the R1 (09-12) is the size of it. And not a fan of undertail exhaust.

So their is really only Honda left, maybe buy a 2012 blade? I actually love the look of it. I really like the S1000RR too, but man i have heard way to many horror stories of engine failure and electronic gremlins.

Im very suprised that so many of these modern day bikes have such huge problems, even so that the whole engine needs replaceing. What the hell is going on.

So, what would you buy if you where going to make that choice again today?

On a side note, i also like naked bikes, but after trying the S1000R the windblast you get is unbearable.

I am all in the muddle about what to get / what not to get.

2012 onwards Blade sounds like a good bet.

Also don't rule out a 2016 model Black edition blade at £99 a month on PCP

IMHO you are worrying too much.

The 08 > blade is very reliable. Oil burning is known but rarely a problem and the heavily troublesome bikes were resolved quickly in 2008-2009 so is very unlikely to be an issue now.

If it rides fine, doesn't burn excessive oil and sounds ok then ride it and don't worry about it.

I don't see the point of selling an 08-11 to buy a 2012 > blade... better to spend the money upgrading the earlier bike imho.

I'm looking at a Black editon too. My dealer is trying to get it for me for 10990 after Hondas contribution on a 0% PCP. Will find out Monday if I've bagged one

Yes, for me the 2012 is the only acceptable option right now. Considering value for money and that i actually like it.

I think my bike actually has this crankshaft problem, it is whining like a mofo at idle, when putting it in gear and put load on the engine it gets very quiet. Did not sound like it when i bought it, so came on suddenly. Dosent burn oil tho. The oil level on the dip stick was nearly the same after 2000km. Maybe a few mm. drop.

Question: would you sell your blade if it had this horrible crankshaft problem?
