Over the past 57 years I have never been one to suffer nose bleeds other than through misfurtune or self induced through doing something stupid.

But being on Warfarin, it has exploited the fact that I must have a weak snot box as without warning or reason I can suddenly start pouring blood.

Last time was New Years day.

Today, went to the bathroom, blew my nose, turned on the tap and was washing my hands and the water started turning very red. Drip, drip, drip...................

10 minutes later it is under control and stopped, but it really p1sses me off. I know it is a side affect and the medical people have said that it is nothing to worry about because it is always the same side and only my nose, but WTF? :shakehead::confused:

Sorry just had to get it off my chest. It is so bloody annoying that I can go for weeks without a problem and then boom......

I have suffered with nose bleeds at various times in my life, like you normally one side. After a while you can smell it before it gets too far down your nose but I have ruined a few white shirts by not acting in time.

I can relate to that. ;) I learnt about the white shirt issue shortly after I started on Warfarin. The majority of my work shirts are mainly dark coloured now :)

When I was a wee lad, I once decided to explore the parameters of measuring exactly how far I could insert a plastic bullet from a toy gun up my nose. The data forthcoming from this experiment turns out to be: Just too far to be able to grip sufficiently to retrieve it...

A visit to the hospital ensued. Pre triage units, in fact I think it was pre A&E as we know it today. However, it was my first experience of an Asian doctor. In provincial Devon it was my first in the flesh experience of an Asian, full stop. In fact, my only exposure to anything from the sub-continent at the time was the execrable song by Peter Sellars and Sophia Loren "Goodness Gracious Me", which for the life of me, I could not refrain from singing all the while this poor chap was digging around inside my nostril with a pair of splinter tweezers...

I'm sorry. I was only five and it was 1965. None of us knew better then...

Anyway, his revenge was to damage a blood vessel that resulted in gory Niagra falls whenever I ran, jumped, or even stood up quickly from then until I was about 11, whereupon they figured that if they removed my adenoids the problem would resolve itself. I am the only person I know who had their tonsils removed as part of an adenoid-ectomy rather than having their adenoids removed during a tonsillectomy.

This resolved the issue in general terms, but has still left me somewhat prone to bleeds for no apparent reason, even if I'm sat relaxing, and I never, never try and stifle a sneeze... It gets a bit Tarentino.
