Looking for some help understanding, changing the gearing and the effect it has on my speedo.
My bike has been changed from a standard rear 40T sprocket to a 42T, front has stayed standard 16T. So it is now geared as the 06/07 models are. Does this mean my speedo over reads speed, or under reads? If so how much, and do I really need a speedo healer or such? I have tried to use gearing commander website but am some how getting it all wrong, I got a 60 mph under read at top rpm in 6th gear!!!! (I think I messed up) any help/explanation would be much appreciated. Cheers in advance

It will tell you you're going faster than you actually are. Which isn't a bad think on the roads. Won't be much though.
Go for a run out with your phone GPS switched on with some sort of tracking app and see the difference. It won't be much.

I've gone one down on the front an 2 up on the back on most of my bikes and never bother with speedo adjustment.

Cheers for the info, I managed to find an online calculator for sprocket changing, it calculated a 4.5% under read, which isn't too bad I guess, depending on how much the speedo was over reading in the first place. As for Gps on my phone, I'm a bit old school when it comes to phones, I've got a 7 year old Nokia which was basic at the time I bought it!!!! But I do have a sat nav for the car which I could hook up somewhere just to get an Idea of accuracy.

They are set to 5.5% more than actual speed anyway

Im going to put a speedohealer on mine when the sprockets are changed. Means you can have an accurate reading which keeps your mileage true also.
