Apologies if this has been asked before, but has anyone tried fitting these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Projector...118980?hash=item3ce641f104:g:kXEAAOSwB09YEhi~ I quite like the look of them but I was wondering if my bike would fail it's MOT? Thanks.
I've had my eye on a set of these for my rr6 for a while & often pondered that same question. I really all depends on how well you get on with your mot'er. I've got a few trick pieces already that are in that grey area, but it's all been fine so far. So thought, what the hell & ordered me a set.
It's something I do fancy, I have to admit. Knowing my luck though I'd get the buggers fitted and then get a bloody telling off on the MOT!
Well the beauties turned up last week. Very well packaged and with everything needed to fit them. Just gota find the time to fit them now.
My apologies for the late response. Yes I did manage to fit them and I am very pleased with them indead. There was a small issue with one on the ballasts not working, but 1 email later and a new one was in the post. It is just a simple case of plug and play, but there was a combination regarding only 4 wires that I needed figure out in order for it to work how I wanted. I bought a double push button switch off eBay so I could work the halos & HIDs independently of each other. Plus we all know what the boys in blue are like, lol. All in all, I am very pleased with how it's all turned out & liking the comments I get from people when I'm out and about.
..looks really nice. How do they work at night? Distance/spread etc? Did you measure the current-draw before/after to see what effect on battery may be? Any signs of the projectors melting/overheating? I've seen a number of cars with kits like this and they seem to have a disproportionate number with a headlight out - possibly ballasts failing. Will be good to know if yours remain reliable - I wonder if the ballasts themselves can be replaced with an alternate 'quality' item if the ones supplied are susceptible to failure. Is this what you actually purchased? - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Projector...~&clk_rvr_id=1195235709772&afsrc=1&rmvSB=true
They work 100 times better at night. Distance/spread and brightness is unbelievable. No I didn't measure the current-draw before or after, so I couldn't tell you. As for getting hot, yeah they do get warm, but I wouldn't say the point of melting or overheating. But I will keep my eye on it though. I was thinking the same about finding a replacement ballast if they wouldn't send a new one. I don't know if they're susceptible to failure, it maybe just coz I got a faulty one, who knows. And yes, that's the ones I purchased from eBay.
I take it when you fit these it obviously removes the 1 light coming on and allows both at the same time? cheers mate.
Yeah it does. That was one of my main niggles with the standard headlights n all the comments off people saying "you got a light out".
