Took delivery of my new blade a couple of days ago and love it but it really needs (in my view) a better sounding exhaust. I'm an Akrapovic fan and considering the full fat version, however the description says it's it not road legal. So, question is, what makes it illegal for road use? Is it the absence of the CAT? Which only comes into play at MOT time, right? Will I get any dash errors if I fit the full zorst? I've ordered a slip-on but it's not in stock, so may just get the full one hence the query. Here's the blurb.. "Full stainless steel system with hexagonal carbon silencer (NOT ROAD LEGAL)" "Though cans are E marked and are legal regarding noise, the complete systems do not include a catalytic converter and are therefore not road legal."
As long as it's not stamped "not for road use" you should be ok come MOT time! Have a full akra system on mine Although not seen a full system for the latest model yet! Yours a 16my or 17my?
Mines the last of the old models so a Black Edition not the new one. From a noise perspective is the full fat MUCH louder? I plan on doing a baffle delete too. Here's the Zorst in question, option 3. https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/242794
Just realised after i had posted lol. Id guess there is more of a difference between slip on and full system on the 14+ models as you retain the cat in the headers whereas pre 14 the cat is in the backbox?
Not sure about that but to be honest. I may just get the full system and worry about the MOT in 3 years. I doubt I'll keep the bike that long mind.
Thanks mate. Just what I wanted to hear. The Akra on my car with the valves open makes a lovely loud but classy not overpowering sound and I want the same for my bike.
