I would continue paying the exact money into an account of your own and just sit on it for the time being. There needs to be no contact from the creditor for 6 years if I remember rightly then at that point they can no longer chase you for the money. Chances are you are going to be contacted the next time the finance company do an audit on their accounts though. Especially if this is a large amount and it sticks out like a sore thumb on their books. If this contact is within 6 years the clock starts over again and you need to pay it.
Agree with Charlie, stay quiet and and set a standing order for the same amount to a separate savings account. If they come back at you at least you have the money to pay back. The other issue is what if they don't come back at you for payment and you now want to sell or PX the bike, the money implications in that are different. Sometimes it's more stressful than it's worth waiting to see if they have clicked on that you owe money than it's worth but this comes down to how you are and if you give a damm.
