As my new plate as just come it a 6"4" inch.I no ur not suppose 2 have em on but any 1 every had any trouble wiv the law over these.thanks
£100 fine now!!! Think Mr plod will definitely be pulling over as many as they can to get their revenue up!
I wouldn't go any smaller than 7x5 it small enough not to look like an air brake and big enough not to upset the plod
To be honest unless you get a over zealous copper your riding is more likely to get you pulled than your plate will then they will mention it
Up to you! Just don't ride like That's upto! All I'd say is don't do anything that attracts attention to yourself, ride stealthily
I got pulled in heavy traffic, crawling through town, no filtering just happy to go with the flow. The officer was 4 cars behind put on full blues and two's to get behind me, my plate was about 6x4 and minus the postcode of the maker. He checked everything first road tax ,Mot,insurance, my previous (of which there is none) he eventually let me go(after about 25 mins) with a warning and an understanding I got it changed within 3 days. 5 days later got pulled again(not same officer) this time with legal number plate, same S**t checking everything again before measuring it with a tape measure he produced from the boot of his patrol car, and checking the postcode was legit. I'm sure the world is a safer place now my plate is legal. May be cop's in Cornwall just get bored.
Have a 6 x 4 never had a problem " touch wood" just them stupid looking letter box shaped plates I see getting pulled a lot
May have been that a marker was put on your bike by the previous officer hence being stopped a few days later for the check! Not unheard of unfortunately
We get regular stop checks up here in Scottieland over the summer months, it's usually on the popular biking routes right enough. Last time they were out with the measuring tape, 4 got £100 up their pooper and 2 of us got away!!
I got pulled just north of Inverness last summer on my annual trip to Thurso, not doing anything wrong, but I saw them parked up before they saw me, so expected it. Plod had his ruler out....gave me a "producer". 7 days to get it changed and inspected at my local Police station they had to stamp it and return by post. No fine or points.(It was 6×4).
the size of the plate can vary depending on how many characters it has and the layout, but for most 2letter 2 number 3 letter plates it works out at 7x5 this site explains it well http://www.motuk.com/Motorbike-registration-plates.asp. As for the postcode it should have it a long with company name who made it and a BSAU145d mark
I have a racefit exhaust, Always stick to speed limits ish, and have a 7x5 plate. any smaller you are asking for trouble, I have enough reasons to be pulled
Actually this is not correct I got pulled for a small plate I said the numbers were legal but the were not but he didnt measure them anyway but Photographed it and said he was booking me for the Maker, Post Code. and BS, £100 . So I went home and read up on the law on the Gov website to see what was the smallest legal size I could get for T2 EDW. I then noticed that the separate law for Bike and Tricycle does not mention the need for this info anywhere I sent this Gov info to Dyffyd Powys Police. This was the reply. Confirmed received. We shall respond as soon as possible, but bearing in mind that the alleged offence only occurred yesterday, this could take some time. In the meantime, the fixed penalty will be suspended. This was 03/04/17 still no reply, it is definitely not on there just letter sizes and spacing and borders.
