recently just bought my first blade and its a minter 1 owner 5k miles full honda service history,, but i just went straight in and bought it without looking up on the abs and now after reading im starting to regret it . What do you think?
Of the 2010 Blade Fast Bikes magazine - May 2017 issue 326 Comparing sports bikes of this generation, today. Page 33: "C-ABS is pretty good to be fair, at least on the road, but not so much on the track. It does add a few kilos though.." No problems with my 2015 Blade.
Haha maybe! Thing is i supose i have never needed it yet and if its going to start causing bother and extra expense at service time im asking myself is it worth it. I must learn to read more before i buy haha
You just need to accept that Honda stealer will charge you £400 odd to bleed it as and when the fluid next needs changing. Probably get it cheaper elsewhere if not bothered about main dealer stamp. You can always remove it if you intend to keep it for a while.
Well thing is nearest honda daler to me is 4 hours away so that wont be happening, how often you rekon it will need a fluid change bare in mind i only do 2-3k max miles a year
Every 2 years regardless of miles really, but even more frequent if your on the track.... the early bikes definitely suffered with more with issues! But plenty on here with late bikes that still have unresolved brake issues!
Aw well fingers crossed i dont get any issues and will run the bike this season and maybe trade for non abs model next year.
I had brand new 2011 repsol abs.... yes there are stories and I'm not siding with anyone but from my experience no issues whatsoever.....
Now on my second fireblade, both been the ABS spec models. I can honestly say zero issues with the ABS on either. Saved my skin in a few close incidents riding through London, Recently got my praise when a car’s driver’s side door flew open while stopped on a single line red route road. Yep the cost of the bleed is expensive, but hopefully that will be the only time the bike goes to a dealer. Great thing is that we have no service lights and I can maintain & service the bike myself, without a annoying light on a dash with countdown mileages to service time rip-off
I had a 2013 Fireblade abs and i hated the brakes, nearly killed me a couple of times with brake fade.
Have read all the story's so both mine are none abs , just sold 675R bloody abs on that on track was terrible.
Same... 2012 ('13 plate)... The thing is, it USUALLY works... But when it doesn't it'll try & kill you as soon as fscking looking at you. You just don't know when it's coming. That's the thing. If it was predictable it wouldn't be dangerous.
i got a 2015 bought October 2015 used it quiet a bit on the road club runs and commute as well as track days also eurpean touring coverin 2.5000 miles in 10 days I thing I have done more than 10 track days on it now so far on the road never had any problem with ABS my old bike would fade sometimes causing bike to roll and that was scary moment ON TRACK no problems no fade no nothing I am Inters really not a track day junkie yet around 6.000 miles changed the brake pads with oem pads myself front only not rear bike was feeling like it is not stopping as fast as it used to be what I realised is when I have done ARD TRACK DAY AT Odiham there is a long straight where u can get up to 160mph -170 mph and than u need to get down to 40 mph ish to the the turn 1 when I was breaking there I reliased my discs changed colour because of breaking and after that track day specially I could feel my breaking power is not all there but still good eneoug bike has 13.100 miles now and still did not do any bleed my mate has a 600rr 2015 and he got his bleed done because he cocked up whe changing pads himself with EBC pads and his bike now compare to mine stops a lot better he has got better feel I will get bleed done this summer but to be honest all I need is to squeeze a bit more really I am still confident my brakes are good enough I have no fade no judder etc. probably after first slide on track I will get the bike to track bik spec and than I will remove the abs just because on track it is useless to me really and if the bike is not used on road you don't need all that I would get stell lines and job done really. can not pay 300 ££££ for bleed even though my suggestion would be get them brakes bleed max every 2 years or earlier if you are abusing them.
