Anyone use them? i want some for my trip when i get to Italy, as if its hot, i don't want to sweat my nads off in the one piece. Do they come with armour, and are they stylish..i.e not big fek off asda jeans styling?? cheers!
I've got a pair of Richa kevlar jeans and they pretty decent, some makes come with just kevlar panels sewn in at the arse area but these richa actually have the equivalent of a pair of kevlar shorts sewn in and then the usual knee panels. There is also knee bags to take knee pads but i found these uncomfortable, another area is the cut of the jean, these ones feel a bit akward at first when wearing them off the bike but you get used to that, but when on the bike they feel and fit great. In all they get a thumbs up from me and get plenty of use in the summer when commuting but i still wear full leathers when out on a weekend blast, ( just feel safer ).
i have a pair of hornee jeans with kevlar sewn in the impact areas and these are just like normal jeans even have button flys and very comfortable. only wear them for my 3 mile trip to work
I have the pair of Draggin which I have used a few times over the years, they look goos but never tried them out in a accident As for the Armour, and I can't believe I will say this but the hole point I bought them were for that little extra protection from the kevlar over normal jeans thus feel very comfy and let allot of air in for hot days, Saves wearing regular jeans or shorts. And the main reason why I don't wear them much. Used to use them for the few miles to work but I need the car now
I brought some from the bike show, mainly just for when I nip around my mates or nip the shops, saves gettin the leathers/ textiles on.
I have a pair of Draggin jeans, wear them sometimes in the summer........ I find they make me sweat, and the kelvar is itchy to the skin on longer runs
I've got a few pairs of Hood jeans (UK made) Lined with lots of kevlar, and use Knox protection on the knees and hips. Not bad styling either as far as bike jeans go!
I have a pair of Draggin jeans, I find them ok they don't feel as restrictive as leathers, don't have a problem with them itching or anything. Smiler have you tried sticking them through a wash? Maybe that would stop them be so itchy?
Draggin Jeans for me wear them everyday for the communte - nice and warm in this weather - dont know about summer riding (only got them last Sept) But very comfortable Did bulk at the large price tag - but now thing worth it for the comfort and lack of hassle gettng changed etc and you can stand in the pub and have a drink with out looking like you have shat yourself (leathers)
Myself and a mate own the RST one's. Personally I love them, good padding and very comfortable. Don't sweat in the summer and even in 1-2 degree weather in the winter they are very warm. Paid around £90 for them.
I know RIDE magazine did a review on Kevlar jeans a few months ago. Some jeans are made with knitted Kevlar whilst others are made from woven Kevlar. Unfortunately I can't remember which one is better, but I know they both tested better than a standard pair of jeans in the abrasion tes. Obviously they couldn't compete with a set a leather pants though.
Like others have said always fancied a pair but never got round to buying some. Personally I would only want to use them for slower riding as would rather be sweaty and safe if I was pressing on a bit. I believe the ones to get are the "Draggin" ones and they do have impressive test results which I m not sure if all the other manufacturers do. Draggin Jeans - Manufacturer of Kevlar® lined jeans, jackets, cargo pants and motorcycle clothing.
I'm sure I read an article last year in Fast Bike, Sports Bike or one of the other clones about how there's only one pair that qualifies as proper CE approved armour. I'm sure it was one of the Draggin' range but it was one of the dearer pairs.
Any body know how you would connect these to a leather jacket .Its ok testing them in isolation but what if your jacket rode up your back ( Tarmac rash ) springs to mind.
Got two pairs of the cargo Draggin jeans, bloody awesome, very comfortable and so less restrictive than leather. Wear mine all the time and have the Knox knee pads fitted too. A couple of years back I came off my bike in the wet at around 60 mph and slid for a fair distance with the RSVR on top of my leg, apart from heavy bruising that was it, the jeans ripped at the knee and ankle but the Kevlar underneath was untouched. can't recommend them enough and I still wear the damaged one now, washed a million times and still hold their shape and haven't shrunk. Can't vouch for the other brands though, but am sure the will be as good? Perfect for trips away too, always take mine to wear as "jeans" when I go to NW200, as previously mentioned they look great as casual wear too .
