Anyone know where I can have my Tank Cover Remodelled from OEM to HRC style. Buying one and fitting isn't an option, can't change the subframe, seat unit etc. It's a 2013 ABS model. I spoke to a lad ages ago who had his 600 tank done and a cracking job it was too so there are people around who can do this... dumbo here just can't find them, I wish I had asked him at the time. Can be done in ABS plastics, Carbon or Fibre Glass. Any info or pointers would be appreciated.
You can buy HRC style tank covers for about £70 you just need to then get it painted, you might need to alter the side pods for the sub frame to fit with it https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/292224273001
Thanks sps, that's not what I want to do though. As I said buying is not an option. I'm after a high standard of finish and not a botch job. This is why I'm looking for someone to re-model the OEM cover. Ive even approached the makers of the HRC incl Carbonin, Ten kate etc etc and to do one is either 1. too pricey i.e. £'s in 4 figs or 2. are just not willing to carry out the work for a single cover. I searched for a considerable time last year with no such luck and gave up. This is the second attempt. I'll probably end up having to go on an apprenticeship or something to learn the f^(£!&@ trade myself....lol. Annoying when you know for a fact that it can be produced.
But you'd have to pay someone to remodel the oem cover? Which would probably be more than the cost of that one! Unless someone wants to do it as a modelling exercise for starters which I don't think would look professional in my opinion I've seen carbon ones for about £300, even an apprenticeship will cost you money before then laying out for materials, so either way it's going to cost money

As I said, the lad with the 600 had a lad do it simply by modelling some Fibre glass or whatever onto the OEM cover, once painted it was like a newly designed tank cover superb and it cost him a couple of hundred £'s. A good bodyshop would probably be able to do it, it's just finding someone willing and who understands what I'm looking for. Padgetts may hold the key as it was someone there who put this lad onto the producer of the cover. I'll call them in the morning I think, last time I tried them they didn't seem to know anything about it..... you can but try.
I suppose something like this would be useful, but attached more permanently and moulded into the original cover. I have an ABS Plastic one of these but it's too heavy, thick and the job of securing permanently and finishing is beyond my knowledge or skill. This one is not the correct shape as I'm sure most of you are aware, but close.
Thanks Chris620, I know the HRC one will fit but you have the issue of the side infill panels. Have you done anything with those?
Thanks, I have a 2013 and the side infill panels differ. How do you secure yours to the tank cover. Have you trimmed the clip parts that interlink them to the tank cover? Relying on the plunger type fitting on mine would not keep them secure enough in place and they would more than likely rip off under speed or with your legs catching them as they would stick out where they should secure to the tank cover. An explanation would be appreciated Chris.
