....Boring I know....but hopefully someone can help me!

Trying to confirm exactly what the original emission standards are for my bike as considering exporting whilst I am working overseas. They demand that the bike is Euro 3 compliant but my bike is an RR5 which I suspect didn't make the grade for Euro 3 (correct me if I'm wrong but seems the RR6 was Euro 3 standard). Are the Euro 3 requirements spelled out clearly anywhere (struggling to find anything definitive)

If the above is true, is it possible to upgrade my RR5 to get it over the line for Euro3 (and get it tested/certified as such)? Would it just be a case of upgrading to RR6/RR7 cats and getting a tune/remap to get the emissions down? Perhaps also same for the end can as i believe Euro 3 also covered noise?

    Any help very

You cant update your bike, its like type approval with the manufacturer, nothing you do will change its euro status

    Thanks very much Shutty

Ok. Appreciate, in this case an RR5 may have fixed designation which can't be changed. And I may not be able to get the bike reclassified on the V5C as Euro 3 or change the emissions data. However, I suspect that if I can modify the bike so that it meets or beats the equivalent standards (and be able to prove it) then this should suffice.

If anyone knows what the standards are for the RR5 and for Euro 3, and then what options I may have to upgrade to or surpass the equivant then that would be fantastic!!

    Thanks again!!

    +1
type approval (emission, safety, etc..) is obtained when a manufacturer submists a new product before launching it to the market so you are stuck with it. (think of it as CO2 emission bands for car road tax)
I would say the best place is to contact honda customer services who can dig out the info from their archive (I have foiund them very helpful)
you could try the "classic or custom" route description for which type apporval may not be needed

Given when i worked for Honda UK cars we went a full year without a diesel engine due to this exact reason, i doubt you will get far

    Thanks.

I believe the "classic" route in only available to vehicles over 20 years old so a little too long to wait, unfortunately.

I will try contacting Honda or the dealership but would have thought the emissions for Euro 3 were standard? How do they legislate otherwise. Is it not just a table of limits by type for CO2, CO, NO2 etc??? No doubt oversimplifying.....

If the goal is to get these emissions down for a test, do you think the Cat/tube approach will work?

    Thanks again!
