Hi fellas I'm new and have a question to ask...........

SP1 or SP2 which one would you choose? I have an SP1 that's been offered at £15,499 or an SP2 at £22,900 registered and ready now or wait for more numbers to come in next year on the SP2 and take one of those. Will the SP2 hold its value better? Is it enough to justify the extra £7.5k. Your thoughts would be appreciated
    Regards
    Trev

Is the SP1 brand new? Only real difference is the wheels between the two and a few engine Tweeks

    Welcome to the Forum.

I'd go for the SP1 as that's a good discount (SP2 is not £7500 better!).

Info on the SP2 from the Honda website :-

    http://www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles/range/super-sport/cbr1000rr-fireblade-sp/overview.html

"A road legal homologation special, it uses the Fireblade SP as a base, ready for race use with Marchesini wheels. The engine has a revised cylinder head: valves, combustion chambers and pistons – Racing kits are available."

I was wondering if it would be a more investable item in years to come? Not really sure as it's a lot of extra money for the exclusivity of a limited edition?

I think it depends on how long you plan on keeping said bikes and how many miles you’ll be putting on them.

If it’s going to be a garage queen you’ll probably lose less on the SP2 (after a certain amount of time).
If you’re gonna rack up the miles in all weathers go for the SP1.

What a horrible position to be in by the way.

My bikes don't see many miles to be fair, I have a 1996 blade which has 5000 miles on from brand new which is now 21 years old!

Go for a SP1, IMO they brought out the SP2 for same reason Kawi brought our the ZX10RR, to allow them to race on superbike championship.

If you are riding the bike anyway save yourself 7.5k, the tweaked head and Mg wheel is going to make no difference on road, then even for track use the 7.5k to buy some nice carbon wheels and HRC Sport Kit for the 17Blade

If you want the second best in life, then go for the SP1,
but if you want the best, its got to be the SP2.
They won't be many SP2 out of the streets and you will
    have something special !
Christmas is coming and you got a reason to treat yourself with a special motorcycle !
    Go for it !
