Hi all, I thought I would give you an update regarding my poor 2017 Blade SP throttle response. Investigated by Honda UK in July over three weeks at dealer and still have not done anything to fix it. Bike is fully run in and is brilliant to ride on open road. Stop at a Tee junction or a line of cars at traffic lights and it is hell. Twist the throttle gently and initially nothing happens, then off you go like a banshee into the car in front. Chased up Honda again today and will let you know if they formally respond.
Them telling you the ECU would 'learn' is bullshit. What actually happens is your brain does, it's just a fob off. What it may actually be is the throttle slack adjustment, I do it myself because the shop always sets a *huge* throttle deadzone. You always need some slack of course, to make sure the throttle is actually fully closed. If you check it regularly you can reduce it. Could that be the problem?
Dont know if anyone else has this problem on 2017 Fireblade , after coming off a 2008 model which I had for 8 years I find new one under powered have been back to dealer numerous times but always says no faults ,top speed is only 160 mph in fifth or sixth ,bike also pinks badly have contacted Honda uk but we’re told no faults no problem .so dissapointed bike has now done 4500 miles so put it on dyno and only producing 120 bhp at rear wheel ,I won’t to reject this bike and get a full power one but Honda have no customer service any one have any ideas
First up, welcome to the forum, Paul. Strange post though: 'top speed is only 160 mph in fifth or sixth'. Huh? If you're doing 150 mph in fifth, you should attain 175ish in 6th. When it was dyno'd, was a diagnosis made of a particular problem? That would be prime evidence if, as you say, it is 'underpowered'.
This ^^^^ I currently have 5 bikes, all very different but all special in their own way, lets start with the boring one 1. 06 fireblade, bland as fook 2. 2000 model SP1 (the proper one) big, heavy, slow V-Twin, character in abundance, all you need to do is fire it up 3. 05 ZX636R, I swear it's quicker than the blade, light, nimble, addictive induction roar 4. 04 ZX10R, mad, simples 5. 2016 NINJA H2 , stupendously quick, like a piece of modern sculpture OK Back to the boring one, well, here's the point, yes, compared to the others, yep it is bland and a bit soulless, however, its my trackbike, well specked and handles like a dream Rob
Yep. Given that we have both had our bikes dyno'd we know that something should have been evident that was inhibiting the output. It will be interesting to hear what response @paul gets from his dealer!
