OK looking at getting a new daily drive in the next few weeks, My needs are. Able to Pull 2000KG (caravan twin axle) 4 wheel drive. have been taxi for the staff to get into work over the past 3 years during snow. Work in care so it's a must to get to work in all weather. Under 23k. as new as possible so either new, 6 months or a year old. under 10,000 miles. After the above I want the best MPG I can get, low road tax etc... Will be replacing my hyundai Santa fe which gives me 35MPG, road tax is £240. but is rather cheap and been a great car for the past 6 years. Had looked at a Pick up as I may be able to take my bike to track days on it. not sure if that is possible? Also used as back to up Le mans and other events
Well, i have a Nissan X-Trail 2.2 dci aventura. mint for every day use good return when pullin wobble box "coachman amara 640" i can't fault it stands me a pair of tyres since i bought it, just change the oils and filters every three four thousand to keep the engine and turbo sweet,
I wouldn't fancy pushing a fireblade up ramps on to the back of an L200 or such like .. Nice low trailer or Van for that mate Not to clued up on decent MPG 4x4's . they are all guzzlers rant they ?? I really want a Defender for the winters and the odd sunday off road sesh . They are big bucks new thou and the older more affordable ones will not have much for comfort when you need to be the Snow taxi for work Have you tried " Whatcar? " to see what they suggest ? Me and my boss got a bit silly after the Top Gear North Pole challenge and were amazed how cheap we could get a couple of crew cabbed Hi Lux's fully tricked out with all the toys on the options list, less the VAT advantages of commercial vehicles for work use. The truth is, when it came to the test drive, Gary's X Trail is much, much smoother to drive.
Nice mate i got a 2011 Swift Challenger 625 and at 27ft and 1800KG is a bitch so no Fiesta for me Yea Dan looking on What car. for the price and What I want looking at a Kia or another Santa fe. I'm not name snobby so as long as it's good and does the job thats fine. I would like a Hyundai i800. 9 seater, able to pull the van but better still the seats can come out and put the bike in. BUT no 4X$ so not ticking one of my main boxes
This is what you need, plenty of them round here from the USAF bases. you can feel the ground rumble before you see them. I love them: View attachment 2153
I went to look at the new KIA sorento today. Very nice. 2.2 diesel, more powerfull than my 2.5D. Fuel economy is far better than mine. You should be able to get one around 6 months to 1 year old for your budget. The new on i looked at today was the KX-2 (mid range spec) auto £29000
Ford Kuga 4x4 get a decent towbar and your sorted. Great car, you may get stick from your mates in the pub for having a birds jeep but it goes everywhere and does pretty much anything, handles and the 163PS version is great for overtaking, etc. The torque is awesome
Not saying this because I've got one, I'd buy a pre2006 X5 3.0d they are good cars.Good on juice and £240 tax .They are ok off road providing the tyres are good. They drive like a good handling car on road and can pull anything. If I had to buy another make it would be an xtrail.I know 3 people with them and none have had a bad word to say about em.
We (the Mrs) just got the Sorento last week. It was the KX3. It was a pre-reg from Evans Halshaw with just 45 miles on a 61 plate and we paid £24,490. Surprisingly nice car. Fully specced 4x4 Auto with full leather, Xenons, panoramic roof etc etc. Even has a decent sound system with external Alpine amp under the passenger seat and Sub under rear seat. Never even considered Kia and we were looking at X5, Q7 and the Merc GL350. But in the end the 7 year warranty with 30+ MPG and reasonable price compared to competition sold it.
Good price Rob! I will buy a nearly new one. My current one is the 2.5 sorento. Its 4 years old and is a great car. Only 26K on the clock too
Yes the price was good. Well under any other dealer. They do have a brand new KX3 at £28k which is well under list price. It's the Sat Nav model which is normally a £1k extra.
The kuga has a towing compacity of 2000kg? I only ask as the wife's got a 2ltr s max and that can only pull 1600kg
I remember seeing 2100kg somewhere so just googled it and thats what they say. Anyway heres what I found on towcar.com Having taken delivery of our new Ford Kuga – I must admit I did have some reservations about it's towing ability after asking several questions about the vehicles towing capabilities on caravan forums. However, after hitching up our Swift Challenger 570 on to the rear of the Kuga, we never looked back, I'd go to say it was probably the most pleasurable and easiest journey's I've had to make and considering we covered over 250 miles in one day, the Kuga performed excellently. Cruise control came into its own when we were on the motorway sections and a steady 65 MPH was covered for the majority of the journey. Fuel economy was around 7% down vs. normal driving and was to be expected. Interior and fitting of the car are of very high quality, I can't fault anything really. The Sat Navigation is easy to use and has functionality that allows you to change your route as per traffic issues ahead, something my Garmin never had! Ford now have a cap-less fill system that takes a little getting used to, but other than that the car and it's high level of equipment make it a really nice piece of kit. So to summaries, if you are looking for a different tow vehicle, the Kuga is a good option, added to the level of options available and the quality of it's fittings, you'll be hard pressed to beat it. Top marks to Ford for building a potential tow car winner Dave Verney reviewed a Ford Kuga - 2.0 TDCi [2wd] (100 Kw/134 bhp). Modelyear: april 2009 - april 2010) and a Swift Challenger 570 of 1585 kg.
