Most of us have fitted to our bikes a tail tidy and smaller number plate. We know the risk of being seen by the police and pulled over but decide to take the chance that the average copper won’t notice the reduced size. Driving along today however I spotted this ‘attempt’ at a number plate on a GSXR1000! It’s both amusing that the owner thinks this is acceptable and irritating that this draws attention to the rest of us with non-standard plates!
Whole bike looks a bit tatty......I've got a 7x5 plate on my bike and while I 'think' it's not road legal, it's not offensive and looks in proportion. Never been pulled over with this size of plate, but anything smaller I wouldn't chance!
It would be interesting to know for how long he's had it on the bike. I upgraded from 7 x 5 to 8 x 6 solely to look more 'legal'. Haven't had any issues, but then again, at the moment the bike spends more time indoors than out!
Hi guys I’m just pondering this. What size to use on r&g tail tidy 7x5 or 8x6 Had many pills over the years also what size fits best in the space between indicators. What’s the general opinion?
I've got a 7x5 on an R&G tail tidy and I think it looks in good proportion with the tail tidy and idicators. I've attached a pic so see what you think. P.s. stay off them pills!!
I think 8 x 6 is best. Looks legal at first glance, but still smaller than the obtrusive 9 and a half by 7. Pics show 8 x 6 with my old 7 x 5 overlaid in pic 2. Hope it helps. Best way is to just cut some cardboard to size and tape it to your bike. You'll soon work out what you want!!
Haha excellent spot Lozzy .......that day was a particularly hot day and my shoes were all hot and steamy after a long day in the office and they needed a good airing!
Not wanting to be a dick or nothing....buuuuut...that tank protector pad is skew whiff With my OCD that would/does drive me crazy
