Right so I've stripped my bike down ready fit a qs tomorrow, can i leave the battery disconnected or will it reset stuff that needs be left alone? Standard ecu etc just don't want bugger the immobiliser or ote
If you've the standard ecu it will be fine disconnected. Probably run a bit better actually, as it's a self learning system & if the bikes running a bit rough you can disconnect/re -connect battery , run up to fans kicking & that reverts it back to original factory setting.
Cheers mate all I needed know, already reset it but wasnt sure it would be ok over night, bloody postman took my qs back to the depot so can't rebuild it til tomorrow! thanks again
It will be fine , I used to take my battery out for a couple of months at a time, before I had an optimate, just will reset clock time and rev light
If the ECU loses its learnt settings (like a long period without battery), the best way to get a trouble free re-start is to turn on the engine without touching the throttle and letting it get to working temperature. I was told this by a master technician and has worked for me
and we're on, can't wait actually go and ride it lmao. Just done a run through on paddock stand make sure it's fitted right, last time till Feb or March some time! Quite surprised how easy it was to fit in the end
does anybody know what that divvy little pipe is on left of the tank? Hoping it's a breather as can't see anywhere it could go
There was a recent post about a 'spare' hose; does this help?: https://www.1000rr.co.uk/threads/what-is-this-hose.34588/
I found that one, plugs into the maf sensor. This one's shorter and comes off the tank no leaks or anything just didn't seem go anywhere. Still got tank cover off as I'm waiting on k&n filter being delivered so will have to have a inspection before i finish it off
https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu...0rr-2010/f-16-fuel-tank-fuel-pump-561539.aspx looking on there there's 2 breathers and a drain pipe, gonna perhaps leave it running for a bit and make sure it's dry see how it goes revved it and had no leaks so fingers crossed
Fitted my QS recently too - that tube isn’t connected to anything. Must be a short breather. Enjoy the new toy!
factory ecu reset to put it back to fuel learn mode. is disconnect battery leave 2 mins, reconnect start engine do not touch throttle then wait until the fan kicks in. done. It is worth doing this if you fit an end can and don't want to go to the expense of a map or pc
