@nigelrb is that to save water or you want to avoid getting water where it shouldn't be?

I just do the panels when I'm using quick detailer, when using water tho I do the whole bike, just dry it off fully after and leave it in the sun for a bit make sure it's dry. Daft as it sounds they're rain proof so a hose shouldn't affect them unless you stuff it down the back of the fairing and soak something that shouldn't get wet. I dont use water very often tho just quick detailer as I clean it in the shed

I'm just over cautious about water where it shouldn't be. I know no damage would arise from it, but it's just my fanaticism.

As I ride mine every day the salt ect is a nightmare. I've acf50 ed the whole bike now.only things not standing up to abuse are the fairing fasteners spindle nuts and front calipers. Oh well I suppose it's an excuse to try and get some M4 brembos past the wife.

I also use mine every day mate and have changed all the fasteners to titanium and so far so good. Have a look at stainless caliper pistons mate as they seem to last better than the standard items.

Thanks I was thinking about what to change them too. Calipers are going to get a rebuild soon as salts gone.

A couple of weeks ago it took me two hours in the snow too. It was mostly the downhill stuff all frozen. I locked front and just skied down a busy hill into the shitsvile that is dewsbury. I lost half hour though as I did stop half way to change a tyre for a lady in a mk 4 gti as when I got her to wind down window and said your wheelspinning because your tyres flat she burst into tears. I'm a suckered for a damsel in distress

Quick bump, what products are you guys using on the metal bits i.e. frame, subframe, swing arm and engine.

I stay with Mr Sheen in most cases. If (heaven forbid) I have too much chain lube fling on the swing arm, I'll use WD 40 first, followed by Mr Sheen.

just don't get any water on the clocks. a wipe down with a damp microfibre is sufficient

Even only using your bike in the dry weather your paint must have swirl marks all over it only using a polish to clean it? What do you use to remove he road film?

    Hi Raph.

Nup, no swirl marks for me. I will use the 2 bucket technique for a 'proper' clean. First one with a chamois sponge and water with a capful of Turtle Wax, followed by the second bucket of only clean water with fresh chamois. Will follow up with microfibre and or yellow polishing cloth.

I do have good layers of Liquid Crystal
    ( https://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk...43kljpBHi-siq8FmUZO11Mb7mkjlJvJYaAthREALw_wcB )
which was actually recommended by a form member, @dainesefreak as I recall.

I hope most of use know that swirl marks will only arise from soiled cloths or wiping down without due care as road grime will act like sandpaper on the paint.
