Anyone looked in to it? I don’t really like carrying a ruck sack on a euro trip. The hand book says no more than 3lb on the rear tail that is one small rear bag ha ha
How about a large'ísh tank bag for the main stuff and then small rear tail bag like a Kriega US10 for the light stuff such as trainers and underwear.
I'd risk a bit more weight but not too much. I looked into this as I was thinking of getting an SP1. I have been told the Hepco Becker carrier will still fit. But having said that the carrier alone will probably use up the 3lb weight allowance.
For the current bike I use a Autokicker 50 L throw over bag - to carry a change of clothes, waterproofs, small toiletries bag, camera and a lock. And I use a non-slip rubber protector between the paintwork and the underside of the bag. This is the bare minimum and is not really any kind of significant weight, it is just a bit of bulk. It is much easier if to secure if you have pillion footrests though. 3lb doesn't seem right - the subframe looks the same as on the standard 2017 Blade (which can carry the weight of a pillion). Maybe it means the removable seat cowl has a 3lb limit? Pretty sure you'd be right on that, Ian, because remember, the SPs have the pillion peg hanger bolt holes blanked off. Honda does claim: "Thinned frame walls save 10.5 ounces (300g). While transverse rigidity is unchanged, the frame is 10% more flexible in the torsional plane, which works to deliver a faster-reacting chassis." That though, is negligible and would hardly compromise the effect of carrying more than 3lb.

Right, so that supports your point that the frame is surely capable of carrying a pillion, and the 3lb limit is for the cowl cover only. Cheers.

I was told by a Honda technician the SP subframe is lighter Yes it has the foot peg holes as the mould is the same but it has been lightened and is therefore not as strong. Total carrying capacity for SP is 110 kilo against 180 kilo for standard blade
I might of read it wrong perhaps it is the weight limit on top of the cowl? Wouldn’t want too put a bag on top of cowl as it gets grit underneath and scratches and rubs
Although expensive, I swear by the Ventura system for ease of use and quality. No bungee straps to contend with. 2 clips and your connected/disconnected and no chance of any marks whatsoever on your bike. https://www.ventura-bike.co.uk/ I use it on my blade and my mate uses the same system on his 899. I’ve not got the bag mounted on the rack correctly in the image, just a mock up so you can see how it works.
I contacted Ventura (I have it on my 2014 Blade) but unfortunately they aren't doing a system for the 2017 onwards Blade.
How about something like this combined with Hepco & Becker plate? https://www.motocard.com/en/bags/givi-t511.aspx I have tried tank bags on the Blades but find they get in the way.
