Hey guys, so I've spotted this auction on eBay and ended up buying a set from the bloke directly. Paid 20 quid although I believe he usually charges 29 or something. Frankly I didn't really expect much but I was really pleasantly surprised, came 1st class post, nicely packaged and look like a really nice solid product, exact sato replica just without the logo, really good quality, fitting instructions bellow, the pics are pics I took of the hooks I received, not stock images - so this is what you get. I ranged the guy up to ask where he got them as a friend might want a pair and bloke said he makes them himself. I though I'd give him a bit of support as I'm really pleased with it and post about it for anyone who wants to buy hooks (they have the pillion pegs mount on them too btw) and doesn't want to spend 80 quid on a piece of aluminium... Got them for 08+ Blade His email: [email protected] Fitting: It sounds complicated but it's dead easy when you get into it, should take you 30-40min max - remove the seat - remove the rear sea cowl/rear seat - unscrew the four screws holding the tail fairing to the rear subframe -- optional -- unscrew the four screws holding down the tail lock mechanism and take it out (this will prevent your fairing piece from cracking when sliding it back - slide the tail fairing off slightly (move it around a bit, it should slide easy, make sure to lift the centre (where the lock mechanism is/was as that is a tension point) - it will reveal two screws holding down the battery tray, take them off - unclip the fuse box and take out the screw you find underneath - loosen all the bolts holding the rear subframe to the frame and tank (ideally take them out and keep just the top two frame-to-subframe, keep them very loose, this will prevent the subframe from sliding down and scratching your frame but will make it loose enough) - lift the battery tray up, it is quite flexible, I used a wooden plank to hold it up Look for - cables leading to the tail piece from the battery tray, they prevent it from being flexed up, BOTH SIDE of the battery tray have a bulge that prevents it from coming up easy, use torch and look from underneath to see these bulges and flex the tray to get it around them - Finally unscrew the pillion pegs, use w40, they're were really tight on my bike, I have used a ratchet to get the screws off, in the middle of the undertail section - there is a dip, use a spacer on the ratchet so the ratchet ends up in this dip, it's hard to fit it in otherwise Screws - provided screws and spacers are for fitting the pillion pegs to the hooks, use the original screws to mount the hooks
I've been in touch with this guy and I'm getting some off him. £29.50 the price is now but it's still cheap at that price and if the quality is as the images suggest I'll be happy! He doesn't do them in black though?
I took the images of it when they came, it's not stock shots I've posted - so that's exactly what you're getting I think I'll just get a matt spray paint and do that myself.. couple quid to get it done, granted not as good as if it was done factory but it's not like I'm gonna be putting them through much abrasion
Yeah was thinking the same but I would say after a couple of times putting pegs back on or using the holes to strap the bike down in transit the paint would wear off instantly......think I'll just leave mine raw! Good recommend though Apollo!
Would only cost a few quid to powder coat - would look the bees knees then. It will probably be quicker to powder coat them than for you to do the peg changeover. Hope you can handle stress!!
I still think you'd have the same problem with powder coating, first time you re attach the pegs you'd chip the shit out of them!
Fair enough. I'm forgetting I'm the only one who wears white gloves and wraps making tape around my spanners!!

Hey lads, a few notes: - I originally found him on eBay but dealt off eBay - I've paid through friends and family PayPal payment and got the hooks within 2 days -quality and fitment is excellent - fitting took about an hour - I spoke to the guy on the phone as well, legit dude Pic of it fitted I've fitted it by: - tail cowl off, seat off - sliding the tail fairing piece back slightly and unbolting the battery tray, I have removed the cowl lock mechanism to make this easier as I was worried about cracking the fairing (battery tray bolts are under the beginning of the tail section) - clicking up the fuse box and removing the screw under it - releasing the tension on both sides of the subframe by loosening all subframe bolts - lifting the undertray up and removing the pillion pegs, they were tight AF, use w40 and a ratchet, use spacer on the ratchet, there is a dip in the middle of the undertray that makes it easier to fit the ratchet in - the hooks come with a set of screws and spacers, these are to be used for mounting the pillion pegs, use the original screws to mount the hooks I might get them powder coated and use plastic/rubber washer to avoid them getting scratched. It looks alright but considering I have an all black frame the black would be better
Waiting on invoice to pay I was looking at enamel hammerite, as it's meant be hard wearing but might just ask my local powder bloke if he can fit them in and my pegs at a later date.
Seen a few mixed stories of fitting but I'm pretty good with a spanner so fingers crossed. Gonna get them powdered then rip it bits
Yea took me a while to figure it all out, didn't find anything written up properly on it - that's why I wrote it. There is supposed to be a way of dropping one then other part of the subframe and flexing it down it it didn't really work for me, dunno. This once I've figured it out seems dead straightforward
Just jumping on the wagon... When I make chain guards I’ll be putting a few bits into platers for anodising black. I have a minimum charge I have to pay but can sneak extra items in when required. So an option is when I get to that stage I can send some in with my parts for minimal cost
