Think im finding the pitfalls of using a factory exhaust system with road fairings, or trying to I should say Has anyone thats fitted akra headers had any clearance issues with the bigger radiator fan? Unless I space out the bottom of the radiator from the block then im left with very little clearance between the header and fan blade. But, if i space it out too far, the radiator ends up very close to / touching the side fairing panels. Im tempted to run without the big fan.
Mines got some Akra headers off a BSB bike (I didn't fit them). I think they are ok with the rad but they foul the standard fairings as theyre larger than standard. I'm away for a few days but i'll have a better look when im back and see how close they are.
Hi mate, sorry this is a bit late, here's some pics of mine showing the rad, they seem to clear the big fan ok. mines an 08-11 and they foul the standard belly pan at the bottom and sides. Was running 12- race fairings on track and only needed a slight modification to the belly pan on the left to stop it melting. I'm putting it back on the road with the standard 08-11 fairings so i've bought a cheap spare belly pan off eBay for £15 (it was in really good condition so a bit of a bargain) to try and modifiy so need to try and cut a few bits out without it looking rubbish
Thanks for taking the time to have a look mate. My gap from the radiator looks aboit the same as yours so hopefully it wont melt. Ive trimmed my belly pan back a bit, turned out well but I was sweating buckets doing it lol.
Dremel and smoothed out with some sandpaper. Ive got some heat reflective stuff to apply to the bits which are still close so hopefully that will help.
