cheers , I don't know what to do for the best have a look for myself or just ring a Honda dealer and let then sort it out as whatever it is must be done under warranty . and they can do the fuel filler cap while there at it .

Came across a sp1 today and after seeing your post decided to get past it In case it was a mobile oil slick.....I would get the dealer to come and pick it up then return it looking like new.....hope you get it sorted and thanks for the heads up....this is when brand loyalty is won or lost ...

mine is under warranty still aswell but has never been back to any dealer... i do all maintenance myselve and warranty stuff aswell if anything comes up.
they just stamp up the booklet upfront before buying or no sale...
i dont like how the majority of dealerships work...here they break more then they fix and i therefore only trust myselve...
goes for my blade and the strom1000 and z1075 aswell....
i hope u get it fixed properly....my bett is them plugs....let us know please what it was ok?

    Understandably so.

I am very 'black and white' about many things, so to my mind this is just NOT acceptable. It's not a second hand C90 you've purchased; it's a top-of-the-line model with only 125 miles on it - and now unrideable.

Of course I wouldn't dare tell you how to handle this, but I would be onto the dealer principal and failing that, straight on to Honda Customer Service in Berkshire.

normally I would be bouncing off the wall , but the dealer who I rang isn't the one I bought the bike off otherwise it would be a different story , lol . so I will give them a chance to put it right , and if there is any talk of money or blame then I will contact Honda and they can have the bike back.

Fair enough, Keith. On that basis, the dealer is good, because he could have easily told you to take it back to the originator.

If it's any consolation, it's forecast for rain over the next few days. ;)

Did you ever find the source of the leak?

I think I have found where I am about to have a leak. I am installing the Ten Kate fairing mounts, 2 of which attach via the sump bolts the way the OEM left bracket does.

When I removed the one bolt I saw it was damp with oil and stretched to almost breaking off. This could have been a nasty surprise had the bolt stretched and snapped while re-torquing.

This isn't the first substandard fastener I have come across on the bike. Hopefully there are no bolts made of cheese on the inside.

Yes - I have some spares on the shelf (I always have 1 or 2 of the Honda CRF MotoX spare bolt kits on hand.

I will be replacing all the sump bolts with Ti bolts next week.

yes it was the oil sensor ,even the dealer checked the parts to see if there was a copper washer or gasket missing so he cleaned it and resealed it , so that should cure it .

    hahaha...damn i knew it....
Did he take out the blind plug next to it on the right aswell? Otherwise u be having the same thing shortly again...
Like said mine started leaking at the oil sensor adapter at around 600 miles and after i fixed that it started leaking again at the blind plug at around 1200 miles...
Honda been cheap with threadlocker on both the locations with my cbr and apparently havent changed with your new one...
same motor same issues i guess.....
easily fixed tho, took me 5 mins on each plug.....

What's the torque spec for those sump bolts? I searched the service manual, couldn't find it.

My mates practically brand new 2018 SP has a leak from the cam shaft sensor area.

Might be worth a look for anyone looking for the source of oil.
