Okay. Why pick on my Hondas when Ducatis spontaneously combust in the street?

Nevertheless, I get the message. Just ordered 6 of these:

Early morning ride to my favourite 'Fish Hill' (Broadway, Worcs). Only got 5 good corners but a good training ground.

Damn odometer's passed the 1,000 mile mark on my 2018.:( Had to happen I suppose - it's taken 4 months!!:)

The Wife's bike had needed some TLC as it kept losing power and cutting out in towns and so having had it fixed some time ago I was providing escort as she took it out for a ride to check out the work and hopefully help her regain confidence in it. After an initial good start it did mess her around a little bit, but seemed to recover. So we filled up and headed out to Willinghan Woods.

All was good until we got to Market Rasen where the bike cut out and when it started would die when trying to pull away. Luckily my excellent mechanic skills saved the day, well I told her the choke was on and the sidestand was down :D:D:D

Anyway after that it was as spotty dog as we used to say, or reet sweet as the local around her might say. After a cuppa at the woods the Wife led the way home and judging by the smile when we got home confidence has been restored.

That is one nice NSR, BSS. If your wife loses confidence, or the bike becomes subject of a separation settlement:), keep me in mind!!:D

How long have you/your wife had it? A real gem of a colour scheme too - I bet it turns heads everywhere!

Will do @nigelrb, not sure if it is pristine enough for a collector but is in very good shape for it's age.

Wife has had it for a few years now. Normally gets a lot more attention than many other bikes, and those who are lucky enough to have a go on it normally get off with a big grin

Understandably. Like the 400, it looks a big bike but has all the capabilities of a small bike. Also, like the 400, I suspect it's 'awkward' to ride because of its very narrow power band. I can't help feeling that for a girl/woman (no matter how experienced she is) a 4-stroke would be more durable, but then again, there's little available that has similar street appeal. Cheers!

    :eek::eek::eek::eek:

I'll pass that nugget of advice onto Maria Costello...
I'm sure she'll find it facinating

If you re-read my post, you'll see I offered opinion and nothing that would constitute 'advice'.

I would expect Ms Costello to heartily support my opinion that flexibility, smoothness, and ease of power delivery is far more desirable in a road going motorcycle than the harsh, abrupt rush of power generated by high-performance two-strokes.

I hope you'll be kind enough to relay Ms Costello's response.

I agree it's more desirable...but why would you narrow it down to be a possible issue for a girl/woman as you put it and not for any rider in general!

    Granted, and fair enough point.

My response was addressing BSS's post where we were openly discussing his wife's NSR. I didn't want to personalise my response by saying: 'I can't help feeling that for your wife . . . a 4-stroke would be more durable . . .' so I used the more generic term.

Unfortunately, by highlighting this now, I pave the way for either BSS or his wife to challenge me about my suggesting Mrs BSS might be more at ease on a four stroke, and understandably so. For all I know, Mrs BSS could blow me into the weeds on the road - but this was not about personalisation - it was merely an opinionated comment in context with the discussion.

I am in fits of laughter here and the wife is apoplectic :D She is very capable on her bike it was just the issues she was having in towns that was knocking her confidence, and now that is fixed she is off and firing on all cylinders again. She loves her 2-stroke especially the virbrations when stopped, so much so she nicknamed it Tibbar ;)

Anyway I am sure no offence was meant :D

Today's bike ride turned into car ride due to lack of petrol. It was only spoilt by swarms of overweight, midlife crisis, lycra wearing, packs of males on brand new road bikes.
