Going to make a new purchase this week. Either of the two above. Same price wise and both feel good. Anybody have any real world experience. I’m leaning towards the gsxrr but the Beemer has so much more electronic gizmos, but do you really need all that?
Can't offer anything about the GSX or BMW, but so far as electronics, I have a few on my 2018 SP2 and my view is that once they're set, there's no need to access them. Agreed it would be different in a track situation where settings for traction control and suspension is always variable, but for the road the only setting you might be interested in is the rider mode difference between town and country; i.e. the 'town' mode is a more subtle power range.
I think I’ll go fir the gsxrr from what I’ve read there are a few tweaks shifter and brake wise from the17 to the 18 bike.
I would go for the Gixxer too. Squinty eyes have put me off for the beemer, and if you don't need the extra electronics you shouldn't miss them.
I dont think there is much seperates them as far as riding goes. My preferance would be the BMW but only if you know of a good dealer.
haha . the brakes are mental compared to the are they going to work honda abs system . no blade at the moment but will look at an older one as a 2nd bike
Shoot me down in flames if you must, but this is one instance of 'black' not doing a bike justice. (I am on record as appreciating black Blades). The beemer looks far better (to me) in its traditional red/blue/white.
when i got the blade i travelled to get a repsol as the black didnt look right . never been a fan of black bikes ( especially the matt on new blade ) but there is something up close that i really like and as everyone goes for motorsport colours thought i would be different ,
I might be wrong but isn’t there a new Bm the end of this year/start of next? Might be worth waiting for the newer one or walloping the dealers for every extra going and discount now?
yes a new Beemer is up for next year thats why I bought my gen3 one as I like the shape and I got top spec for less than a lot of other bikes
IMHO: Not sure about the black Beemer, but the Red/White/Black one looks great. I have just moved away from pure sportsbikes to Super Nakeds - but this is what I would have bought if still in the market for one. As mentioned on here a new model is due out next year (I think) and these appear to be a bit of a bargain. Maybe able to get a good deal. On purely looks - I think the Beemer looks classier than the GSX-R I think the reasons for not getting it over the GSX-R are more to do with reliability, dealership, servicing costs, and maybe trade in options for your current bike. Also will you feel a bit miffed if you were to get this model, and then next year you see a brand new model riding around and want that instead, because your pride and joy is now "out of date" ! But today, a straight one next to the other, for the same price , for me it has to be this Beemer really.
That picture doesn't do the black justice, it's really nice in the flesh. Gsxr or S1000rr is a tough choice. Don't think there's a right or wrong, just whichever you get on with more on the test ride. I do like the cruise and heated grips on the BMW, all bikes should have them. If the Suzuki was in the blue and white from 2004-2006 that would do it for me, always loved that colour. Does your budget not push to an SP?
SP Fireblade? Not for me to be honest Insurance quote for S1000rr sport is £750 a year full comp, the GSXRR is £450. I am 45 years old with years NCB, I can't believe the price difference.
Ya gotta ride one, stupot. I know 'each to their own' and we all have preferences, but it really is a brilliant machine. However, it could be up the top of the tree for insurance. I certainly paid through the nose for insurance on my SP2, so I do accept your point.
