No Simon. I'm all show no go! I wouldn't mind it, but as stated in a previous thread, I'd be embarrassed about being one of the oldest. I did enjoy years of racing when I converted my CB750 to a race bike in they days when we put CB350 pistons in them (increasing to 820cc with consequent rise in compression); running on Methanol, Borani alloy rims (probably extinct now) twin disc set up from the factory; factory alloy tank etc. Also as previously stated, I have no fear of injury, but I would be devasted to damage a bike. Once the old-age OCD sets in; you're done and dusted; just ask @hitch and @CBRGav .
hey most TD's I go to is a sea of grey/hair or bald lol....one is never TOO old...mate I am close to the big six O myself and yet still bang my new(ish) R1 around in fast or fast inters.... but I do pay extra for full bike track day insurance, one can never be to careful lol
old age I'm only 33 can't imagine taking my blade to a track meet tho, id rather hire one for the day for that.
If it was a lease bike id track it lol track bike hire do days for 400 quid ish including the bike and track. I'll be going for that rather than take my own that's for sure. May track it when I get a second bike but until then I'm road only
kwell when I get fed up of the track i will get a 1200cc naked bike and only do the roads, but for now sportbikes are made for the track and we only live once, so do what you want, but i aint wasting £400+ on a hire bike when can do a TD for £200? and enjoy pushing my bike to limits in safety compared to roads! To see a sportbike with worn flat in the middle rear tyre is SAD imho....get em track where they live
That's including track entry and bike though. once you've factored in tyres, insurance, chance of dropping etc and the fact they give you a pit team with the bike set up for you and only 500 quid if you total the bike or whatever cost of parts if less. I didn't think it were a bad price. I'd rather know my road bike is safe for when I want use it on road than chance stuffing it on track lol
Agreed. It's not a bad price. BUT, if one becomes a 'regular' track day rider, the price might be considered prohibitive. For me, 6 to 8 track days at 500 could actually buy me another bike!
Oh yeah if I loved it ill buy a second bike and track my blade or buy a track bike with v5 and day mot. 2 or 3 a year tho it wouldn't be worth it to me
Quality is a very subjective opinion, but having bought my first Honda in 78, there is no doubt in my mind Honda stopped being a quality producer and innovator about 20 years ago, when it stopped being engineering led and become marketing led. There were periods where every other manufacturer was playing catch up with the big H, not anymore IMO, Honda now follows where others have trodden before. And when their products do fail their customer service and corporate responsibility makes you reach for the sick bucket. Honda Europe Motorcycles is the most arrogant organisation you can deal with, with totally Teflon hands when it comes to supporting their paying customer base.
I respond with personal experience that MV Agusta UK is a contender to challenge your opinion! A dealer and national supervisor failed to respond to my complaint/concerns with the consequence that I served a dealer with a County Court summons. Matter was then VERY quickly resolved! (NOTE: This did not originate from a 'quality' issue but one of parts supply)
In all fairness most will expect bad/slow service from most Italian brands and no hope in the summer months but not so much from a Japanese manufacturer.
And although a Honda forum, most on here still swear by the big H brand to the point you would think they are sponsored
