had a great ride out today , got back home taking the bike round the back of the house went up the kerb and it slide sideways and me and the bike hit the deck , so im just wondering if the engine case can be repainted or is it a new one , theres a few little scratches on the belly pan underneath the engine case , bar end and a scratch on the end bit of the Yoshi . do you think it might have affected the bike in any other way with it being on its side , cheers .
Sad to hear, Keith, and I KNOW you'd be more worried about the bike than yourself. Engine case would need to be filed back and filled. BUT could you ever get a matching paint, AND would you be satisfied with a repair. Perhaps price up a new case, if only for interest's sake. Belly pan can be effectively reprayed with RS Paints spray pack. they're about 15 quid per can AND you need also a can of clear lacquer. Bar end easy to replace. Yoshi, well, you either live with it or replace with the OEM. As far as its having been on its side, the bike will be fine. Might puff a bit of smoke on startup - if it starts. I am fairly sure they have a sensor that shuts them down if dropped when running. I guess you'll know by now whether it starts or not. All the best.
Would think it's all cosmetic Keith. They're pretty robust, I've dropped my old one a few times and pretty much ended up with what damage you've got...although I've always put engine protectors on so it's never damaged the actual casings. If it sounds and rides fine I'd say it'll be ok.
cheers for your comments , I will have to have a look at the price of a case and mirror etc , im fucking gutted and my leg is giving me a bit of pain now , but ill live , lol
I did something similar to mine. Dropped it on the drive and scratched the engine casing and damaged the mirror. I covered up the scratches with a GB Racing cover, but it blends in better on the matt black I guess. The mirror is ridiculously expensive unfortunately but I got it about half price from the USA.
Keith, have a look on the 'Post your 2017-18 Blades' thread. Page 1 and 3 I think, Chris330 and dgr both have protection, but not sure if they're R & G or GB Racing.
Not sure if RS Bike Paint list the new blades yet but I would imagine they will have the paint for them, they probably do engine cover paint also. Worth getting in touch with them, they are very helpful.
The 2017 'Victory Red' has, I am fairly sure, been used on previous models. However, a light scuff on the lower pan might even polish out, or close enough to it.
Oh dear, I feel your pain. I'd just get some GB racing covers, it'll cover the damage and give you protection in the future should this happen again or something more serious like a slide down the road! I know it'll cover all the blingy gold covers up but they use them in British superbikes and they don't look out of place on their bikes!
cheers , im going to take a paint place and see what the damage is on price for case and belly pan , but I will wait and see if a mirror comes up , going to order new bar ends , but don't know what to do about the carbon Yoshi end can though , im going for a ride tomorrow and give the bike a really good wash and make sure theres nowt else I haven't seen .
There are a number of Carbon Repair Kits on the market if you're confident of attempting such a task: http://www.easycomposites.co.uk/#!/starter-kits/carbon-fibre-rapid-repair-kit.html
