From the research I have done and from my own experience, an ECU remap is a huge improvement. I don't think you have to 'learn to accept it'.

Do they remap all the modes or just one?

All of them, I believe, for fuelling at least. The different modes effectively just adjust throttle response and in some cases limit maximum power in certain gears, as I understand it. The guys that did mine used Mode 4 to map a 1:1 throttle response to use if you like a more linear throttle.

Who did this remapping for you?

BSD Performance near Peterborough. From my own experience I would recommend them. I'm led to believe that some of the bike mags take their bikes there to be mapped.

Their website is here, http://bsd.uk.com/, and they are on Facebook too.

Just taken it out for a play. Disconnecting battery didn't make any difference but it was worth a shot.

I must be lucky no issues on mine 2018... Left it on standard can....when I rode the 2017 demo it had a yoshi on it and that was jerky.....so pulled out of the Akro that I had ordered it only give 1bhp more at 12k revs...as for the modes I notice a big difference between each and no numb hands etc...,the loop I do is 110 miles so it gets a good work out....

The exhaust is not part of the equation. It was doing it before the exhaust was fitted. I'll probably have to pay out more money to get the ECU mapped. Not, so it can pass EU regs, so it can pass a bus at 30 mph. :)

Shit! Now I really gotta do something about my 30-miler:rolleyes::).

Cotswolds has some good roads, but many are akin to farmers' back roads.

Sorry to hear that you are having grief with your new bike. I had similar with the GSX-S but knew about it (mostly) before buying it.

Is a Power Commander (or similar) not up to the job of sorting out the fuelling ?

Probably would be but heck of an expense on a new bike that should be running right from the start!;)

The concept of Honda is ‘we’ build road bikes that go on the track, not the other way around. Has that concept gone out of the window in order to keep up with their rivals? I am still in awe of my 2012. No fly by wire, no traction control, no modes, no ABS or any of that ball axe.

I know you had a problem before the exhaust was fitted but if you didn't reset the ECU before and after fitting the exhaust your fuelling will be all over the place for a few tanks at least.

I reset my 2018 ECU when receiving a faulty servo buddy the same way as the older bikes and it worked.
Warning lights cleared and rides like a dream. I must be one of the lucky few who likes the fly by wire throttle connection.

I've had it on an Africa Twin Adventure Sports and now on a 2018 SP1 and the connection is amazing on both.

Exhaust was fitted by the dealer that supplied the bike. I'm assuming they did all the necessary adjustments.
How did you reset your ECU?

    1. Disconnect the battery for 10 mins then reconnect
    2. Turn engine on with no throttle input
    3. Allow engine to idle until fan comes on
    4. Switch engine off with kill switch
    5. Remove key

Is this a known set up and does it really work?

I went from akrapovic can to standard the throttle response at slow speed is 90% better but when wacking it open it was very stop start but I think this got better as the day went on, so perhaps the ecu has sorted it out by its self? After taking the akrapovic off I kept the servo buddy and just removed the cables from the standard can.

Has been standard for some years now. Used it on my RR7.
