Been a cracking season. Bought my bike in early May this year, and it didn't have to be ridden in the rain until last week ! Still a bit of life left in the year yet - I hope - before another "Beast from the East", or we catch the tail end of some Hurricane.
Just under 2000 miles for me this year, weather was probably to hot during summer to ride and enjoy, but hopefully a few dry autumn days still to enjoy
For me, one of the positives with retirement is the ability to ride during the week, whereas many of you are 'restricted' to weekends or evenings. Even in winter I can find a few days of dry roads, perhaps though, not possible for my northern friends. Sure, it's been a good year, and as @bradt says, there were some days that it seemed a chore to ride in such heat. I'm well over the 3,000 miles, 1370 of those on the SP.
3250 miles in last 12 months on the RR7 and about 500 miles in the last 6 months on the 918 RRV, didn't get out til end of March this year because of bad weather and salt on,t roads , council go way over the top with salting round here , had some good sweaty rides this year , if ya know what I mean
Hopefully will be good here next weekend, drag the end of the season out like an old heavyweight boxer who refuses to retire.
3600 miles this year, so far.. Going on a very technical ride tomorrow..full leather type of ride. The miles will add until about mid November when it becomes too cold and after that, it's occasional riding on particularly nice days.
What is it with you lot? Either too cold, too hot, raining, or salt on the roads. If Nigel has done more miles than any of you then shame on you as he only looks at his
Well his 3,000 total has beaten my total so far by 50%, but there again I work away from home so only get a few hours a week to ride. Will go sit in the naughty corner
4k on new blade since May & taking old blades mileage into accunt its about 9k for the year and that's all leisure miles ....yes I know there's a typo....just spotted it but fed up with the useless predictive txt
Aww, give me some credit, Raph. I've done a heap of 30-mile loops fore and aft of those viewing sessions.
Had the sp since late August and 1250 miles so not to bad will get out as and when ....went out early this morning 7am back by 9am as rain was due ....930am quick pit stop into the pedal machine for 30 miles in the wet grinning as I had beat the weather on the sp...
Same with me, but on my 2011. Apps forecast rain after noon, but it started spitting at 9.00. In the same fashion as yesterday, did a quick U-turn and headed for the dry. I haven't got a peddlar, but do run in the rain, generally of an evening. Good going on the SP to knock up those miles. Easily understood though; it's such a hard bike to resist riding and sits well in the category of the 'ride it don't store it' brigade.
Great pics Si, proves they are made to get wet unlike popular belief.....cough cough mention no names
Are you sure your odometer is in miles and not kilometres? That's some serious riding amassing close to 2,000 per week, especially considering that MCN makes a big deal about riding 5,000 per year!! Good on ya!
