probably not the best title but, if you had £8500 but it was going to skint you would you buy a 2016 blade 3100miles for £8500 or a 2011 new dash style blade 6000miles for £6500 ?
2011 price seems high. Only you know if you can afford it, but personally if you want a 2016 but can't quite afford it I would wait a couple of months, save the money, and buy during the off season when there are more bargains out there.
I would go the 2011. There's always a chance you'll need money in reserve. Both are good bikes and both hold value. ABS would be a consideration though!
I used to have a 2011 and upgraded to a 2016. My 2011 had about 11k when I sold it and no one could hear the noise but I swear there was a small whine off it! Done some research on it and it turned out to be a noisy crankshaft, not saying all 2011 bikes will have this but it's seemingly more popular in the older bikes.. Google it. Personally think the 2016 is much better and just feels much smoother than my 2011. Also I sold my 2011 hrc with 11k for £4300! That was last year so think 6500 is pricey. Ok would go for the £8500 ... however only fools rush in, season is coming to an end and prices will drop, so as hard as it may be you should save up for another month or 2 and wait for the right one at the right price coming up that's not going to totally skint you. Remember fools rush in, what's for you won't go by you.
2011 all day long ,went the non abs route myself on 2012,save that 2k of cash and it won,t skint you out,you can move up later but you will also spend a few £££ on some mods etc,not many buy and not change something, unless you are happy with everything, and prices are generally way over the top .
That was a great pickup for someone! Even now, most hover around the 6 - 7,000 mark. I would expect that if @bazzashadow did some serious haggling he might snaffle the 2011 for six grand. Remember, low mileage equals high price.
The new style dash did not come out until 2012, so I would be a bit suspicious of a 2011 with a new dash! Does the gear indicator work?
yeah I thought that, what wheels has it got? plus £6500 are what 12 plates go for, wouldn't pay that for a 11 plate,
Thank goodness for this post. Been racking my brains and Googling everywhere to see if there'd been a mid-model dash change. Found nothing. Problem now for @bazzashadow is that if it is really a 2012 dash fitted, that could mean that the mileage is NOT genuine. Some definite further investigation required there. Good point about the gear indicator too, Iain, because I suspect that would mean major re-wiring into the 2011 loom.
The 2012 blades with new dash and wheels etc can be seen on 61 plate, I’ve seen a few. Perhaps this is what it is?
Very possible. Makes sense. And to the initiated who don't know their models (like me when I started looking) it would be an easy error.
Would have to see when Honda actually started selling MY12 bikes. I have a MY18 bike that was originally on a 17 plate as it was registered in June/July. Suppose it's the opposite of having say a late registered rr7 on an 08 plate, they two don't always match.
Can you put a pic of it on? 2012 have 10 spokes. Prior to that, 2011 have three spokes. I prefer 3 spokes to clean, but would much rather have a genuine 2012 blade, without ABS
Ah, something to do with cleaning! I'm in!! Yep, love my 3-spoke wheels. I understand exactly what you mean because the 2018s are a PIA. Marchesinis look nice, but the spokes are ribbed and very finicky to detail properly. But when finished, whoa!@ The elation would be like a prisoner receiving his first conjugal visit in 10 years.
I've seen that, it's in my local dealership. Nice clean bike. For @bazzashadow 's benefit, if it is that bike, I heartily recommend the dealership; I've purchased three bikes from there. Martin Ward in sales will goes out of his way to help. Service dept. is good also. I'm often in Mr Ben's hamburger van at the front!!
