Just to be awkward, there's a first eh, I had clackers and rubics cube, and just to be even more annoying I memorised the formulas to do it and would regularly complete it in under 20 seconds, and once in under 10. We had one lad who was crap at it and could only do it when no-one was watching, yeah right so we said we would mess it up for him and when not watching we twisted one corner round making it impossible to do. Next time he turned up it was magically all done. Don't think he ever admitted the only way he could do it was to take it apart.
We were in in grada 1c at the end of home straight, took no enjoyment from Lorenzo falling off on first lap but were gutted when Cal went down mid race. Wife blamed herself for putting him off waving the Manx flag! Can recommend this race, miles from anywhere but a wicked track and great facilities.
Great pictures and that looks a good view. In 2015 I sat further down closer to the start line maybe 1a or 1b, which was only any good for the bikes while they were on the grid. The rest of the time was just watching the bikes wizz past. I think your seats were better for the whole race, whereas mine was ok just for the starting grid. You must have seen the Lorenzo crash from your view - a bit of a shock so soon in the race. I am sure I even got a bit of a sun tan watching it on TV it looked so hot
Yes saw Lorenzo going a shitter and more sadly Cal sliding off mid race he looked so dejected! Very hot indeed which is not a complaint. 44 degrees showing on car dash as we waited 90 minutes to get out of the car park...the only negative is that you can only view from the area you have a ticket for, would liked to have wandered up to the top of the hill for a skeet too.
@okeloon - when I was there I spoke to some Brits and they reckoned that they were allowed to go into other areas on the Friday, but by Saturday and of course Sunday, they could only access their ticketed area like you say. Sounds like it was a good trip even though poor old Cal took a tumble ! Was it last year he got a wasp down his leathers ? I remember somewhere in Spain he pulled over in practice, really quickly and half stripped down after he got a wasp in his leathers - oohhh
Lorenzo isn't racing this weekend. Called it a day after another off. Got to admit that whilst I am not his biggest fan I think it was a sensible choice. If you're not in the title race and you are effectively number 2 in a team that you are leaving, then why risk next season as well as the rest of this one.
Agreed on the spoiler alert. Luckily I saw the thread had a new post and stayed away until after watching it.
Was it really a spoiler though? I mean, it was inevitable. There's a joke in there somewhere... I should probably add spoiler alert.
Deserved championship win for Marquez - he gives it his all, a worthy champion. I thought Dovi and Ducati did themselves enormous credit for their good grace in defeat. There was no bitching about it being someone else's fault - take note Lorenzo
The winning of the championship was inevitable.......but not the race result!! Kind of an unwritten rule on here (it might actually be written somewhere).....no spoilers on race results......especially at 7am in the morning!! The rest of us are still in bed @Spygoat Well done Marquez though on another spectacular season!
I have had arguments before about posting championship result.....(what me ) What I think is reasonable is to avoid new threads on the forum that give the result away in a headline that you cannot avoid. You go on to the forum and there it is a new thread giving the result away. At least for a few days after the championship result has been aired on TV, and appeared in the news. The other thing is giving the result away as part of a discussion about something else. In a discussion about something unrelated someone posts the result of the race - so readers are not prepared. I would say that in a thread titled "MotoGP Main Thread" - people should be able to discuss the result on the day - because there is pleasure in talking about things as they have just happened. Seriously, if people do not want to discover the result then do not follow MotoGP Main Thread, do not read it or get notifications when there is a race on. Personally I did not even go to the Caff on Sunday until I had watched the race, because it would be quite possible to hear some lads talking about it at the next table or mentioning it directly. Even wearing the 93 T-shirt over their jacket ! You can't shut up the internet, or the news, or people, or social media. People want to celebrate a championship victory, not sit at home waiting for permission before they are allowed to.
So........on reading the first part of that post you lean towards being against spoilers. On the second part of it you sound like you're all for it! Whats the verdict.......just to be clear??
Simply then.... In my humble opinion: Not to post a new thread giving the result - "Marquez wins at Motegi". Because when people login they see that post and cannot avoid it and the result would be known straight away. Not to mention the championship result in a discussion about something completely different - example about a new exhaust - because someone will be expecting talk about exhausts and will not expect to be told the result of the championship. So do not include the results in these kinds of discussions. But to add a comment in an existing thread about MotoGP - then that is ok, because you can avoid it - if you do not want to discover the results of the MotoGP, then do not open or follow the thread about MotoGP. After a period of a week, then it should be OK to discuss openly, because after a week it is no longer a spoiler it is already history !
Somebody has to I suppose! Hey I'll have to fill my kitchen up with motorbikes!! Every cloud an all that
