What a memorable day of remembrance today. This Country has remembered its war dead in an extremely dignified way. We will remember them.
It's always nice to see a country respect those who served it. Days like today, I pull these out and have a good hard look at them, then put them back in the box.
Totally agree and it shouldnt matter how you remember those that have served, but ........... and this is going to get some peoples backs up no doubt, and I apologise in advance for that ..........whilst watching the coverage from London yesterday morning couldn’t help but think “Who dressed Jeremy Corbin?” He’s the leader of a top political party and looked like he had just stopped off whilst nipping for a paper. I’ve seen him in a black wool coat, properly crisp pressed trousers and smart shoes at some of his own rallies so its not like he hasn’t got the gear - so why dress like a charity case at such an event. He’s a politician but this was not a political point scoring occasion.
Far left socialism for you. Shame, because the country has needed a strong opposition all pulling in the same direction over the past 3 years and its not had it. Luckily there's enough voters in the country who can see how dangerous him and Dianne Abbot would be that's making sure they never get in power.
I don't know why but something about Remembrance Day this year has rubbed me up the wrong way. Genuine gratitude and quiet reflection seems to have been replaced by facebook pages plastered with poppies and emotive 'we will remember them' pictures. Almost like the competitive mourning that surrounded the death of Diana. A sort of, let's see who can come up with the most touching tribute to get some self-promotion and facebook likes. I also feel like a lot of what I've seen has been motivated more by national pride and taking pride in other peoples' sacrifices rather than genuine remembrance. Could be me being over-touchy, mind.
If anyone didn't see Peter Jackson's film They Shall Not Grow Old, last night...can I recommend it. https://www.radiotimes.com/news/tv/...-jackson-world-war-one-movie-how-was-it-made/
Just watched it Lozzy what an amazing film, when it changes from Black & White to colour is incredible, and how young were some of those guys. I understand it is available on BBC i player for the next 7 days only.
