Acf50...brilliant stuff isn't it. You'd never have known my last blade had been thru several winters in all weather. I used to see nearly new bikes in worse condition. Is yours the same?
To be honest lozzy where I live is really very heavy for salt so I’ve had to change a lot of bolts around the brakes as they rusted but apart from that I love the stuff. I bought the spray gun to do it his year and must say it’s so much easier.
Ah didn't know they did a spray gun...is it their own? I started doing mine last week but it's a pita with just the can/clothes and a brush. I might get the gun if it's easier
I used to do it that way and probably why I didn’t do it as much as I should have as like you say a pita. The gun goes on a compressor and only a cheap one by a company called silverline £40 well worth it though
I've never used this stuffs before but seems like everyone rates it highly! @raphael I see you've covered the wheels, where exactly can you spray it and where needs to be avoided?? Are you covering the whole bike in it, bodywork an all?? Also I see you can buy it in aerosol form or bottles.....what's best?? I'm sceptical about about spraying anything on my bike and normally just squirt a bit of WD 40 on bolts and anywhere likely to further up! Sell it to me guys!
i spray the whole bike apart from the disc's tyres,seat and handle bars, as in this picture i even take the seat off and cover in and around the battery compartment connectors. i only bought the gun i used as already had the compressor and i buy the bottles as its cheaper for me that way as commute and go through it,but the tins are ok if you put them in a jug of hot water first to thin it out a bit.
Thanks Raphers, gonna order some now and get to it this weekend, I'll just get a spray can to start with as I don't think I'll be too liberal with it to begin with, plus I don't really ride too much through winter!
I do admire you lot. My winter prep involves putting the bike up on stands in the garage, throwing a soft sheet over it and leaving it there until April I retreat indoors and eat pie until the whole horrible business is over.
My winter prep involves a good detailing, trickle charger and paddock stands..then I ride it anyway and repeat the process.
Nigel, I volunteer my services to help. I will come by, ride the piss out of your bikes, thereby helping you by keeping you busy cleaning them. This sounds like a win-win situation to me.
No deal. You'll ride them on the WRONG side of the road! There does seem to be a major perception that I don't ride my bikes AT ALL. It could possibly seem like that because I talk more about cleaning than riding. However, as a retired gentleman of stature, and with no wife/partner/boyfriend/whatever to direct my leisure activities, I actually get out and about quite a bit - even if it is only the now famed 30-mile loop. I have just tallied the past 12 months' mileage, remembering that most of these haven't yet seen 12 mths. RRB 2.452 MV 887 RR4 502 NSR 48 VF 163 SP2 1602 VTR 261 (sold) C90 34 (sold) TOTAL 5949 a total that would get me recognition in MCN's 5,000 annual mile club! The shame with this exercise is now that I see how many miles I HAVE done, I'm thinking that I might have to try and ride them LESS!!
