My Castrols have been dispatched and are on the way. Yay! @Stuish , I've had regular design proof check and updates from Auctmarts. All good to date! BTW, black Repsol with orange wheels is a good look! Put a '99' on the front just to p*ss off another member!
Yep.....the winter test look has already been done, I have my Red bull decals all ready to be applied to the belly pan and front mudgaurd. Still undecided on Repsol Orange wheels or black ones......either way it'll be done! @Stuish I have absolutely no problem with you copying me.......I'm used to setting trends in all aspects of life
Oh yes...I remember that day.... and making sure I was parked far enough away so as not to catch 'stickeritus'
Oh god damn that looks good. I had no idea that had already been done, are they from the same place @PauloHRC , they fit well? You've even got a damn Racefit. So... Looks like I'll be choosing a new exhaust as well then haha
Mine were from a seller called unitedfairings.....on ebay. Fit is perfect but I suspect that most chinese fairings are from the same manufacturers, just distributed by different sellers. It's probably only paint jobs that differ in quality! That's why I went for the matt black. As I've said before I was originally going to opt for the LCR HONDA GIVI team colours of the Stefan Bradl era which would have matched my gold wheels but @nigelrb's reference to my bike looking like Liberace's love child put me off.......I really should stop listening to what other people think!
Tracking tells me my fairings have arrived at Heathrow and customs charges being raised. Getting close now!
Just paid import fees, will be delivered tomorrow. You must have had a really dud run @PauloHRC. Mine have sped through the system. Will start an installation thread tomorrow. Not sure if it will be @nigelrb or @SP Who
What you on about? Mine arrived in less than two weeks......yours have took ages! Mine were actually stuck at customs longer than it took to fly them over!
Might seem that way cos I've been talking about them for ages, but they were dispatched on 21 November. See post #142 I don't know if you caught up with all this @F1CT1C10U5 , but I was SP Who for a day while I had login problems. I guess what you're showing me is the same name is used in programming. The 'SP Who' I used was merely what we call a 'play on words' for SP 2.
Yes but you ordered them on the 3rd November you said.........Slow boat from China I reckon That's nearly a month!
Yep, fair enough Paul. Mine weren't off the shelf but had to be made specifically with my number 31. That would account for it.
Lots of good info on here. I was wondering though - has anyone replaced fairings on a RR6/RR7? How is it as a job compared to newer blades? And is there a consensus on the best place to be getting them from that has the most consistent fit? Auctmarts? Aliexpress? In the complicated equation that is: [number of trackdays] x [risk of binning it] vs [cost/time of chinese fairings] vs [cost of replacing OEM in case of binnage] I think I'm edging towards chinese fairings coming out as the least unpleasant insurance policy...! Also wonder how close the colour matching is if you were to just get the OEM replica ones? Anyone got any experience of that? https://shop.auctmarts.com/fairings/honda/cbr1000rr/1e2.html
can't help you with fitment quality on RR6-RR7......but regarding different suppliers, I would say they are just that.....suppliers. Chances are these replica Chinese fairings are mass produced at the one factory and the likes of Auctmarts, Unitedfairings etc etc are purely distributors of the same stuff! now i'm not 100% sure about this, but...…..myself and others on here have all bought from different suppliers and no one has reported any huge differences in fit. Also when your scouring through ebay or wherever, they all seem to stock the same designs whether its race replicas or hideous flame type designs! Just go with what you like the look of and what looks like the best deal, and don't be put off by customs charges, its based on the value of the package, not the weight, so the cheaper the fairings, the cheaper it'll cost at customs
Can't help with the colour matching. I presume you're considering putting the Chinese fairings on but leaving the tank cover and tail unit as OEM? Otherwise, any slight colour variation will be of no consequence. From what I can tell between my 2004 and 2011, there's be about the same effort and same time frame to fit. As most have said, the art of fitting these things is to take time (difficult when we're full of enthusiasm to get it finished!) and to makes notes or take pics of pieces you take off - especially behind the front headlight cowl where there'll be wires and tubes for the air flapper etc. One thing to consider is that Chines or replacement fairing will improve your lap times. Not by the fairings themselves, of course, but by virtue of your not 'reserved' about tipping into a corner a bit faster than usual, obviously because if you do bin it the loss will not be so great.
